For instance: I just shopped there and bought:
3 bags of frozen mango chunks
1 bag of walnut halves
1 container of 5 layer dip
1 bag of shrimp coconut
1 package of chicken burritos
total cost - $23.63
I'm still so amazed-I keep staring at the receipt to see if they made a mistake!
It's worth any wait on line and I wish they were able to put up a larger store.
Anyway, I started this thread because I love to hear what other people's favorite things from TJ's are. I also drink their coffee.
I am in love with these pretzel bites that have peanut butter in them. They are... amazing.
I love Trader Joes Almond Butter.. and they had the best potstickers but they were discontinued. The guy at my Trader Joes said a lot of people complained about that!
i'm a big fan of their frozen burritos and enchiladas....so good! I recently bought there frozen apple blossom dessert...those are great. The list of the stuff I like is REALLY long, just like the lines at the store!
fyi....for those of you in NYC, the rumor is that they are going to be putting one somewhere on the UWS, but nothing has been confirmed.
actually never mind...found this when i googled the rumor.
No TJ's on UWS
My favorite grocery store! I've enjoyed nearly everything I've bought there. I think only the frozen crab cakes were a real letdown. But ordinarily, their prices and quality are simply unmatched by anyone else. My hubby is addicted to the gorgonzola crackers and I always have to pick up the frozen shepherd's pie and orange chicken. The biggest problem is that so many wonderful items get discontinued. I really miss the tiramisu gelato and the key lime cheesecake.
Kimmy-I was just thinking of where they could put another one down town. In the chelsea market, the flower shop closed. It's a nice big space.
Pianolin, I was eating those choc. covered peanut butter filled pretzels until I was eating too many of them and had to stop!
Jane, I also LOVE Trader Joe's and can't figure out how it's so cheap!! They have the best cookies - especially the lemony ones with chocolate drizzled on them. YUM!
I know! I can't for the life of me figure how their food can be so cheap and yet so GOOD! Usually cheap means poor quality!
It's three buck Chuck here, but still! Love their hummus, pita chips, and all manner of frozen entrees.

They don't build huge stores and they only stock items that actually sell, from their own manufacturers. They also save a ton of cash by only stocking one brand and one size of things.
Their sister store Aldi (yes- it's the same company) has this down to an art form.I bought a gallon of milk there for $1.79 yesterday.
The reason prices are so low is that Stockard and danmag have valiantly kept up the profit margin in bulk wine sales.
Joe, the TJ's I went to in DC was pretty huge! They stocked tons more things than in NY, had a huge ecology cleaning products dept. and no lines!
Not to cause TJ Envy, but I have 4 within about 6 miles of my house. My love for TJ is well documented.

LOL Matt! Unfortunately I don't have one here, so I have to stock up when I go see my mom or my friend in Ohio (where it is indeed 3 buck chuck)
Ahhh. If only they sold wine in Trader Joes. I live in PA where you have to go to the state store for your liquor.
Yeah, you do in New York too. So you don't get the 2 buck chuck, danmag?
I have never HEARD of the two buck chuck!!! I have an awesome butcher right up the street who is sooo cheap and I can get my meat there.
That sounded a little risque when I read it over...
Two Buck Chuck is wine!!! For $2 a bottle! It's Charles something or other but everyone just calls it 2 buck chuck. The sauvignon blanc and the cab are both actually decent!

DanMag, Two Buck Chuck refers to Charles Shaw wine which TJ's sells for $2 (or $2.99 at my local stores).
LMAO! I thought you meant chuck BEEF.....
I think I may be getting senile.
So love Trader Joe's!!
It's probably just as well I can't get my hands on the two buck chuck...
