So I just saw a semi-weird production of
Henry V last night. They cut whacking great chunks out of the play so as not to go on forever and ever and ever, but found time for a chunk of
Henry IV part 2 at the beginning, then went onto
Henry VI part 1 at the end (which was REALLY disconcerting, 'cos you had no idea when they were going to stop!).
On the one hand, they cut out several of my most favourite parts, they killed Michael Williams (which is NOT cool), and one of the girls looked uncannily like Hayden Panettiere, a similarity that was only emphasised by the fact she looked incredibly pissed off whenever she was onstage but not Acting.
But on the other hand, they also cut that interminable English lesson, they managed to get Terry King to do the fight choreography, and Westmoreland looked uncannily like Dean Thomas from the
Harry Potter movies which, I discovered at the interval, was because he *is* Dean Thomas from the
Harry Potter movies.
I think I enjoyed it, but I'll stick with my fond fond fond fond FOND memories of the RSC production.
Congrats Maisie, break a leg SAMN, and I'd vote 'Unusual Way' as well Kelsey, if it hadn't already been voted in. XD
