Yep. My friends all go back the same time you do, but my school likes to ruin lives and we're going back Aug. 24. I can't really complain, though, as I'll get out earlier and have a longer Christmas break.

I was swinging in my backyard while listening to Hair, and my mom called me inside. Now I'm here and listening to Caroline, or Change. I think my parents are starting to worry. I can just listen to music and swing for two hours straight, sometimes three. But I've always been like this. If it wasn't swinging, it's be walking around town. Or sitting in the car during a road trip. I have to have my ipod in and do something physically. I am so strange.
"You have two kinds of shows on Broadway – revivals and the same kind of musicals over and over again, all spectacles. You get your tickets for The Lion King a year in advance, and essentially a family... pass on to their children the idea that that's what the theater is – a spectacular musical you see once a year, a stage version of a movie. It has nothing to do with theater at all. It has to do with seeing what is familiar.... I don't think the theatre will die per se, but it's never going to be what it was.... It's a tourist attraction." Stephen Sondheim

I've always wanted a swing in my backyard. My backyard is a tiny square of lumpy grey concrete with a shed and two broken green plastic chairs. I haven't been out there in years, ever since our landlord cut down our five trees and paved it in.

August sounds so early to go back to school. I can't get over all the back to school sections all set up in every store. Poor kids.. How can they think about all that in July?

Schmerg/shh, this is why they make public elementary schools with swing sets! Swinging for everyone!

So, how's this for completely creepy and random....My friend got an anonymous hate letter in the mail! It was type-written and said things like "you are a stupid, spoiled woman and you are spending all your husbands money when his business is going under" (which it is not) It went on and on in that way.
Isn't that crazy? Who sends a letter like that? People are such wack jobs.
Of course my smart ass husband said that her husband probably sent it to her. lol

Do you think there is a mistress? Possibly her mother-in-law?
#2346
Posted: 7/26/09 at 4:23pm
Oh, no. Her husband is not the mistress type. My friend is actually his trophy wife....I thought maybe it was someone who worked for her husband, but who knows...
Weird though.

Danmag, that is weeeeeird. And really unsettling.
SAMN, they took down the swingset at my local elementary school! Apparently, they thought it was unsafe for kids to be swinging! But they do have a swingset at my local playground for my townhouse development, and I love playing on there and ignoring the dirty, suspicious looks that the little kids and their parents give me (just as I did when the big bad Teenagers invaded the playground when I was little).
