I think most people look better in jeans that are tailored to fix closer. Some people will buy baggy jeans to try and hide their flaws, but they don't realize that the baggy clothes just make them look bulkier.
Fair point, but I don't find it applies to the question of skinny jeans. Everybody looks best in clothing that fits, but the proportion of skinny jeans is not a flattering silhouette for all. They can look very cartoonish in that "tiny legs, large midsection" way.
Boot cut is still my best bet. I'd probably go with skinny over straight leg, but doubt I'd ever buy either.
I like baggy jeans if they're baggy in the right places. Than can actually be flattering on a man's backside.
I have a boot cut pair that are very fitted everywhere but where they flare out to be boot cut.
I'm still a fan of the Mom Jeans myself....

Am I the only one that remembers calling them "cigarette jeans" because they made your legs look like cigarettes?
I remember that, Diva. And we used to call baggy pants elephant pants.
Scallion, do you remember "high waters?"
I do. How 'bout genie pants?
You mean like MC Hammer pants? I totally remember those!
Remember when we used to "peg" our jeans at the bottom? Or the jeans that were SOOOO tight at the bottom they had to have a little zipper to unzip so you could get them off over your feet?
MC Hammer pants (officially called harem pants) are making a comeback, which is so, so sad.
That's scary.
I bought a pair back in the day only because I wanted to be Jeannie for Halloween. I wore them with gold flats, a gold lame belt thing tied around my waist and a black sports bra i doctored up with gold braiding and tassles hanging off the bottom. Then I put my hair up in a really high ponytail. It was really cute!
Of course I was a size 2 then so I didn't mind going out with a bare stomach. I wouldn't wear that now....LOL
Oh god. MC Hammer pants. Don't even get me started.
The really baggy ones look diapers with legs.
That is just... NOT flattering. She looks like she went number 2 in her pants.

I sort of get the skinny leg look, which we had in the 80s (with a slightly different sillhouette) and is a nod to the British mod stylings of the mid-60s, but I just hate the saggy-assedness of them. I don't find a concave ass appealing in any way.
There were some variations on the MC Hammer pants in the late 80s I actually found attractive, but not the low-hanging crotch sort.

I have an ass so I don't have to worry about that.
It is kind of sad when you see a guy in skinny jeans and there's all that extra material in the back because he has nothing to fill it with.
I saw that story about the kid on the news yesterday. My mom, who is very conservative, asked me what was wrong with the kid's pants. She didn't see anything wrong with them at all.

I don't get the appeal. Boot cut is the only kind I like to wear.
But I thought skinny jeans SUITED people with no ass. I'm confused.
I think skinnys are better than loose bottoms because they make an outfit look better...in my opinion. The baggy kind of jeans make an outfit look kind of lazy.

I dunno what you Americans be smoking, but boot cut show off my ass quite well--and skinny jeans just wouldn't fit my body type (since I am a dancer).

Eric, I'm not sure what you posted, but the link was blank.
I don't particularly care for the look of skinny jeans.
I have an ass so I don't have to worry about that.
Doesn't matter. Whether you have an ass or not, most skinny jeans (glorified leggings, if you ask me) are structured to place the focus on the legs. It's the low pocket placement and sagging crotch that gives the illusion of no ass. You can have the world's most amazing ass and the majority of the available skinny jeans will make it appear as if you have none. I'm sure they will be around a couple more years and then we'll return to high-waisted pants/suspenders combo of the late 80s.
i wear guys skinny jean ("rude fit" from hot topic) and love them because they hide my hips and make me look LESS feminine.

Seriously, how many people in Texas can even fit into skinny jeans in the first place?
