Sharing his page is the LEAST we can do. Call it what you want, but he's basically saying he deserves all of us to share his page.

And not discussing what kind of finances he has whilse aksing for money and/or asking us to forward it (to people we think would give him money?) I mean, you keep saying you just want us to forward it, but you want us to forward it to someone who will you give you money, right?

I mean, we can debate crowdsourcing your education (or whatever you get at AMDA) all we want, but I think the high dudgeon over being expected to discuss his finances with the world he wants money from is a little much.

Cupcake, again, I don't feel the need to tell anyone my personal financial details. But I'm not going to lie and say I didn't pay for part of it. Sure, I did. But I was in a good place financially last year, and I was working two ****ty jobs myself, with hardly a day off in between.

I didn't know at that point that I would want to go to school, especially a school like AMDA in NYC. Now, I'm sadly NOT in a good place financially. So, that's great that you worked hard for 20 years and made it. That's wonderful! However, this page does not mean I'm "entitled". I still work every day to try and make money for this tuition. It's simply a page for others to help if they'd like.

Okay, I'm done here now. Nevermind. Thanks again, Jordan, for understanding. Like I said, it was worth a try.

You really don't see the dissonance between asking people to help you raise $20,000 and getting all uppity about the idea that should discuss your finances with the same people you want money from (or, in the case of your pleas for forwarding, the people you want to find other people to give you money?)

As a high school teacher, I completely understand MoonDoggie123's efforts and have seen the same situation many times in my own school! I applaud his efforts and surely will share the page with my friends.

Best of luck to you.

Welcome to the real world. I'm sorry, but I don't feel sorry for you. So many people are struggling much worse than you. Why don't you try to bankroll the money that you're making, and try AMDA again when you're more financially stable?

I'm still curious about the idea of a school offering financial aid, but not enough financial aid to get a student through their first semester. That sounds fishy.

ltjay889, I strongly advise you to reconsider. Education is a fundamental part of our society and essential for success. As a high school teacher, I can't stress enough the value of a college degree.

We should all be encouraging of Mr. Nick. If you don't want to share, you're certainly not required to. But why bash others?

Take it from someone who went there (for a year, because I was miserable), it is not worth the money and it is not worth the debt. There are places you can go that are much better, cost less, will probably give you more financial aid, and will give you a real degree in the bargain.

And there are people who went through the program and finished it who probably would tell you it isn't worth it either.

Honey... Troll.
I have a college degree and I'm one year away from getting my Masters. Where did I once deter him from getting a college degree? Does AMDA even give degrees?

Ltjay889, you are discouraging Mr. Nick here from pursuing his goal of higher education. As a fellow member of the academia community, I'm shocked you'd exert such feelings.

Shame on you, Ltjay889.

Lmaooo. What in the world is going on? I never discouraged him. I told him to wait a little longer until he's more financially stable.

Okay, I said I was done, but I do have to comment to say thank you to Brad. I appreciate your understand and help.

And ljay, trust me, I don't need a lesson on the real world. Sure, I was able to take a nice trip last year. That doesn't mean I haven't and don't face hardships every day. I do. I know that people are struggling, and I help people as often as I can. I know that everyone is trying to make me out like some rich, entitled brat who thinks everyone else should pay for his college. That's not the case. Trust me, this was literally the last option. It's not something I'm proud of, but I'm forcing myself to spread it around because it's my dream. I just want to do everything I can to try and get there.

Also, there will always be people who are worse off, and when I can give to those people, I'm happy to. I understand where you're coming from. But the way I see things, even though someone may be worse off, it doesn't mean that person's situation isn't important. I hope that came across correctly.

But anyway, I didn't mean to step on any toes here. I guess I just don't see what's so wrong in asking that people please share my page or donate if they feel compelled to help a stranger. I'm really not saying that I'm entitled to people sharing it, I was simply hoping someone would be nice enough to help. Luckily, a few people at least saw where I was coming from and understood.

Ltjay889, why postpone your dreams? If Mr. Nick here can successfully raise the funds via the internet, all the more power to him. But why wait hoping, praying that one day he'll have enough money to attend? And will that day be too late?

As a high school teacher, I strongly believe education should be for all no matter what socioeconomic group you belong to. I'm by no means suggesting you must donate to Mr. Nick, only saying that we should be encouraging of him finding alternative routes to finance his education.

If only there were a federal program in place...
