Posted: 3/28/15 at 3:39pmHe's physically perfect and let's face it, Queen and Freddie Mercury do NOT need to be treated as sacrosanct entities the need to be looked at with the utmost seriousness.

Posted: 3/28/15 at 3:41pmI agree with Namo. I think he's damn near perfect, as well. Excited about this!

Physically? He's at least a foot taller isn't he?

I'm glad this is back on. I think he'll be great. And no, he's not a foot taller.

I don't think 5 inches would make or break a role.
A date? Maybe.

Posted: 3/28/15 at 3:51pmGuess I started the wrong thread, shoulda been titled "Awesome News". I guess if DDL can be Lincoln, Sasha can be Freddie.

Posted: 3/28/15 at 3:54pmJust looked it up, only 5". Coulda sworn it was a foot.
#11I hope this is a bad joke
Posted: 3/28/15 at 4:28pmI think he's a great choice too. I guess maybe you're confusing the man with some of the characters he plays. He's actually super-talented.

Posted: 3/28/15 at 4:31pmI don't think there could be a better choice for Freddie. Cohen is extremely talented.
#13I hope this is a bad joke
Posted: 3/28/15 at 4:32pmSo, in summation, no, this is not a bad joke.

What would that achieve?
#16I hope this is a bad joke

Posted: 3/28/15 at 6:02pmPhilip Seymour Hoffman was just a wee bit taller than Truman Capote, yet through the magic of filmmaking his performance did not come off as a bad joke.

I don't even see how a few inches makes any difference. (Know, lol)
there's only a five inch difference. I doubt if is will be noticeable at all.

Posted: 3/28/15 at 7:25pmHe might have to diet a bit to be Freddie. Sasha is thin, but not Freddie thin. Count me amongst those that think this is a perfect casting choice.

Posted: 3/28/15 at 8:00pmJane, that picture is exactly what I was thinking. I thought Sasha kind of favors Freddie, so I thought perfect casting. I just wasn't in the mood tonight to write it and possibly get disagreed with. BTW, if and when I see this, the height of Sasha compared to Freddie would be the furthest thing from my mind.

Posted: 3/28/15 at 8:05pmI think once they do something with his teeth for the part, the resemblance will be uncanny.

I suppose it would be too much to ask for an actor of Indian descent to play Freddie, let alone a Parsi actor. I can't stand biopics that try to to compile every major event in a subject's life (see: Ray) rather than try to illuminate the personality of the subject. BUT, I do hope they don't totally whitewash his Parsi background.
Ethnicity aside, I agree with everyone else, I imagine Cohen will be smashing. Can't believe it's taken this long to make a biopic, frankly.
