Yeah, I'd say that's a pretty fair assessment, CQ!! Maybe someday I'll make a 2nd attempt at it (especially if it starts winning the awards for Animated Feature...though I don't see how it could. I don't care how great the animation is, if the screenplay is that horrible).
Hey Nic!! Did you become a Harry Potter fan this summer????
I did indeed (tore through all 6 at about 1-2 days per)...though I kind of resent the fact that you all knew how thoroughly addicting they are and suckered me into reading them before 7 is out. Geez, I waited all this time, I certainly could have waited another year, so I wouldn't have to be among the sad masses waiting with baited breath!
And guess what?!?!? I got an apartment offer! It's not ideal, but what would be? It's downtown, which I'm a bit leery of, because it seems like it all folds right up after the tourist-types bug out of there...not too thrilled about coming back at night to desolate streets, but the girl who lives there said she's never had any problems. It's a 3 bedroom (no living room, but the bedroom's large compared to most others I've seen...and all things considered, I think I might rather have a larger room than a living room...be able to have my bed, desk, a comfy chair, and maybe a little table or something, along with my dresser(s).
Be back in a minute...need to start the tape for that Edge Bono HBO special that I inadvertantly showed up at, but didn't realize until after the fact!
Aren't they AWESOME? I avoided them and avoided them for years and finally right before book 4 came out, I read them just to shut my friends up and now I'm more obsessed than any of them! Have you seen the movies yet? They definitely don't live up to the books but I think the cast and a lot of the sets look almost identical to how I imagined them!
Hey congrats on the apartment offer!! GET A TV!! How many square feet are we looking at? (Or compare it to your Pace dorm so I have an idea.) Have you seen it yet?

Hey Type_A_Tiff, what does your name actually mean? Sorry I'm a bit clueless at the moment. lol
Hi tmk! Type A is a psychology term and Tiffany is my first name. I don't know how to sum it up concisely but this is the Wikipedia definition of a Type A personality.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Type_A_personality
(In short, think of Joanne in Rent - she's the epitome of Type A.)

Oh ok that makes sense when you say Joanne from Rent! lol. Its a beautiful name isn't it?! I like it. Just like the jewelry that comes from the Tiffany jewelry store!

DAMMIT! The Bono/Edge thing is on HBO2. I looked it up on the schedule and it just said Wednesday at 10:30, it didn't say which HBO it was on. Oh well...It's on again next Tuesday on regular HBO. I'm so excited about the DVD recorder my parents just bought. I've got a few U2 TV appearances from the last year, that I'll put onto a DVD one of these days.
I went the the apartment tonight. The apartment itself isn't anything spectacular. The kitchen is tiny (I think I'd probably have to keep some of my food on a shelf in my room...stuff like cereal, rice, and granola bars). And the bathroom has a standup shower, BUT there's laundry on the floor. That almost makes up for the other shortcomings...not having to haul laundry out in the snow in February=Good Times!
The bedroom itself was definitely bigger than my bedroom at school. It had two (not sure why 2) twin beds on the floor next to each other and then there was still quite a bit of room besides that until the opposite wall that had an armoire instead of a closet. I'd suspect maybe something like 10x12 or 14. Not huge or anything, but considering all the places I've gone to that were probably about 7x8!! There were also a couple of windows, which is always nice.
And re: HP. I definitely agree that the physical look of most of the movies is great (I've seen all 4 now), but those kiddies really are kind of terrible. I'm curious to see what kind of reviews your jailbait gets for Equus in London. Pity they have to film Half-Blood Prince right after the run's up, because I'd imagine it would have come to New York if it does reasonably well.
I don't have an extremly long paragraph to write but,
harry potter =amazingness
j'adore
I have to admit I dislike the name Tiffany - it always evokes images of bimbos, strippers or ballerinas, of which I am none (out of the bedroom, anyway). But I am fixated with Tiffany & Co. jewellery (I'm on www.tiffany.com right this minute!) and I just rented "Breakfast At Tiffany's" on my way home from work today, so I guess I just disproved my assertion, huh? Hee.
Nic!! Are you about to give me a copy of the U2 HBO thing when I see you? (Er...I was going to bring those Halloween 2005 chocolates...seriously, I still have them. But I think they may have turned white...and the toilet paper and instant rice and dishwashing detergent I was going to mail just doesn't seem funny anymore...so what else should I bring except for your copy of the pics I took?)
How much is your apt looking like it'll be? (If you don't mind me asking.) And there's nothing wrong with a Chinatown location! (Just avoid the Chinese people...LOL...but your command of the chopsticks are wow-worthy!). PLUS if you LIVE there, YOU can buy me a Coach bag before I come!
I think we all know that I have overly-verbose tendencies!
Oh yeah, because I'm known as the quiet one online and in person.
NIIIIIIC! I've been ordered to see "Grey Gardens". I'm game for cheap seats and it appears that they have balcony seats for $36.25 but only available at the box office. Do you wanna see it? Do you?
Tiff, I missed your pre-"I'm verbose" email last night. You seriously were going to send me toilet paper and detergent?!?! That's hilarious, yet sweet! I forgot all about crazy Adrienne and her "cleansing" the apartment of all of the apartment's little sundries.
I'll shoot you an email with some of the apartment details. I certainly don't mind your asking, but I don't really need it out on the main board...And I don't have any qualms with Chinatown during the day, but the fact that most everything seems to shuts down and locks up before 10-11 makes me a little nervous. Like when the 2/3 was so funky in the fall. I was never thrilled about getting dumped out on Chambers St. and having a 15+ minute walk around the park after midnight. I hate walking around (especially post-show) where it's all deserted and boarded up shops...Though the oh-so-helpful police precinct that I visited when my suitcase was stolen 2 years ago is right down the street!
And I'm a bit on the fence about GG. If you definitely want to see it and that's the only time you'd be able to go, that'd be fine. Last night I was up most of the night trying to do some figures for my budget over the next few months and (let's be realistic, other than food and direct bills, my main other "expense" is theater) I'd kind of decided that I should try to avoid doubling up on shows for a while...But for you, my dear, anything (well, anything but $50-60 for Annie. Really, what were you thinking?!?!?). Besides, it's Christmas! Anyway, if you do indeed want to see that, let me know, and I'll have to pick up the balcony seats (they only sell them at the box office).
Think about all the good food you can eat in Chinatown! None of that I'm-from-New-Hampshire nonsense!
You weren't supposed to post about my SHORTLIVED Annie inclinations publicly!!! What will people think of me? LOL. Anyway, I really want to see Dreamgirls and Grey Gardens. Does that seem greedy? What time are you free on Friday? I should be back from Woodbury around 4 or so and then I was going to hit MOMA (again...) until 6, meet up with you and hit a show. But I could possibly sacrifice MOMA if we could catch an earlier Dreamgirls showing, grab a quick bite, and then hit GG. (Or hit a late show of Dreamgirls after GG.)
How much are movie tickets in NYC nowadays??
I didn't know you were going to Woodbury Common on Friday! I just MapQuested it and it's 14 miles from where I am now!
Anyway, shall we see what Claire is up to? Would everyone be game for a late night screening of Dreamgirls (movies are $10.75, btw). Obviously we wouldn't know for sure until that week just how late the screenings will be (some of the bigger movies seem to have showings between 10:30 and 11...it'd probably be cutting it close, though there are always 15 minutes of trailers). I'd also be up for it before a show, but that's totally up to you, with MOMA and all. I doubt I'll work on the 22nd, so I'll come in whenever (depends on the weather, I suppose).
What?! Seriously? Is it possible to take public transit there? As it is now, I'm springing something like $40 for a shuttle from Port Authority to there.
Hey, is there any snow in NY yet? How cold was it last year? Will I slip and fall on my ass if I wear those ambitious heels I sported last year?
I'm totally game for a late showing of Dreamgirls. Claire?
Oh, and Plum might meet up with us if we don't scare her too much.
I don't know if there's a cheaper option for you to get there. I don't have a car, otherwise, I'd offer to pick you up (that way it'd only be $20 for the train to and from NY). Alas, I don't, so I can't. I don't know of any other cheaper options.
I don't remember what it was like last year around Christmas, but right now, practically December, it's in the 60s, believe it or not! Definitely no snow. Who knows what it'll be like in a few weeks though.
15C?! WOW! And sunny or rainy or what? (After last year, I have recurring nightmares about it pouring again over Christmas!)
I just looked on weather.com and it's 65 now, so it was probably pushing 70 in the afternoon when the sun was out (it wasn't super-sunny, but it was certainly nice enough!
It was pretty damn cold last week though, so don't hold your breath for this to hold up. The 10 day forecast has it dropping down to the 40s and possibly snowing next Saturday (but I don't believe anything projected that far ahead).

Nice to see All I Want is You and The Fly back in there! Though, I don't know what they were thinking with the encore orders. I think The Fly/Mysterious Ways/Desire then With or Without You/Window in the Skies/All I Want is You would be better. Keep the rockers and the ballady-types seperate, I say!
Word, re: the encore order. That's so erratic and odd!
Okay, I'm thinking yes, let's see Grey Gardens. Or The Apple Tree. Or Vertical Hour (if there are cheap seats, but I don't think there are). You can decide - Apple Tree or Grey Gardens? I'm a Libra - totally indecisive. (Wait a minute, aren't you a Libra too?)
Go see Grey Gardens. Even if just for Ebersole. and it'll most def. have cheap seats
Yeah, I'm a Libra too (no help!). Really, it's up to you. I haven't seen, and would like to see both The Apple Tree and The Vertical Hour. I don't know what the cheap seat situation is for both. I know The Apple Tree has rush (I think Roundabout is usually General Rush for $21, though I don't know if The Pajama Game permanently bumped that up to $36, and Student Rush for 1/2 price, which I never really understood!). The Vertical Hour doesn't have any cheap seats (no rush, no cheap mezz). But they do have SRO. I think the show's on the short side, so standing shouldn't be too bad. Then, as far as GG goes. While I've already seen it, I was watching the documentary the other night, so I wouldn't mind seeing again.
So, long story short. Unlike "they show that shan't be named," I'm really fine with any of these, so it's you're pick. If you want to have something guaranteed, I can get the (not so great, but totally doable) balcony seats for GG in advance (though they also have rush the day of), or we can just play it by ear on the day. When are you leaving for the outlets? We could send of us to Apple Tree and one to The Vertical Hour, and txt to see who lucks out at the Box Office (in case, say VH isn't sold out, hence no SRO, or Apple Tree is and doesn't have rush)...So much for "long story short"!!
You are no help! We haven't narrowed down at all! What do you recommend doing? I'm hitting the outlet around 9am so I won't be around for TKTS or box office openings. I should be back in the city around 5 if that helps!
