I was just going to bump it up and after your last post about The Strokes concert and Tiff as CotD, it said that we'd reached our limit and had to continue on a new thread...check it out! I'm so proud of us! re: U2 Thread: The saga continues...

Folks, we have a message board celebrity in our midst! (If she ever bothers to show up). All hail Tiff!

Did you finish those apps, Tiff? I suppose you're making progress on your procrastination.

Nic and I are going to see The Strokes! I'm excited; for once I didn't screw up ordering tickets (and they sold out quickly). But I'm bummed because they added a second date that would have worked better for me after I already got tickets for the first date. Figures.

Oh you just want to repost it because it says "All hail Tiff." Come on, admit it!!!

Nothing much else new here. I saw Syriana and BBM yesterday. I didn't care for Syriana all that much. It felt like it was too much to keep track of. Too many characters, too much info, etc. I don't know. I suppose you have to be in a certain kind of mood for a movie like that, and I don't think I was in it yesterday.

I liked BBM more than I thought I would, after hearing you guys not being overly impressed (and my parents saw it Thursday and said pretty much the same thing). I don't know that I think it necessarily lives up to all the hype, but I did like it. I like Heath Ledger a lot, and I'm really torn between who I'm rooting for (especially between PSH and Joaquin).

I'm down to 6 movies that I need to see:
-Munich
-Transamerica
-A History of Violence
-Mrs. Henderson Presents
-The Upside of Anger
-Cache
AHoV is supposed to come out on DVD at the end of February and TUoA already is available to rent, so I'm really kind of down to four. I can do it!

And excuse the obnoxious motherly moment, but: Tiff, did you get your personal statements done?

1. Yeah, I totally wanted to repost "All hail Tiff!" Was it THAT obvious? Achtung WHEN? That's right, I'm the master until 10am tomorrow, and you don't dare defy or contradict me...mwahahaha.

2. YOU GUYS ARE SEEING THE STROKES?? I hate you!! (Love ya.) HATE! YOU! How are the seats? I would LOVE to be there! God! When is it? AAAHHHH! MSG?

3. So was the nail scene as icky in Syriana as they say? Did you see Good Night, and Good Luck? Which one did you prefer, if so?

4. I've yet to see BBM - just read the book, which I did think was tedious and frankly, quite awful.

5. So about that date with the Chinese co-worker - apparently he's leaving the country for good today, and wouldn't have told me except we happened to be on MSN at the same time last night and right when I messaged him, he went, "Gotta go." and logged off right away. What. The. F*CK. ASSHOLES!!!

6. If only the theatres were good for hopping. re: U2 Thread: The saga continues... I mean, the times are staggered enough that I could see multiple shows in one day, but we don't have any discounts like paying a buck per show, so it would be $11 for each hop. Ouch.

7. I finished the personal statements that were due Feb. 1. Do I get a cookie? I still have McGill, which is due at the end of February, so I'll be getting that done soon (I hope). I'm also thinking of applying as a producer for a local regional production of Angels In America this summer. And I'm writing out some new personal assistant cover letters for a few movies - one with Sharon Stone (shudder), one with George Clooney & Steven Soderberg as producers (YES PLEASE!), the Ben Stiller one and a couple of others. My hopes are in the gutter though.

8. I've got $8 in my bank account, no foreseeable work now that I've turned down that Chaos Theory job, a $50 parking ticket, a $93 Visa bill (so far) and a $45 phone bill due next month. I'm SO panicked. SO, SO, SO freaking out.

1. Enjoy your time in the spotlight, Tiff!

2. March 4th, Hammerstein Ballroom. GA. Can't wait.

3. I was gonna ask if you closed your eyes during that scene, Mabs!

4. I thought the performances were great in BBM; this year's best actor Oscar race is tight.

5. Aw, that sucks, Tiff. re: U2 Thread: The saga continues... Boys are stupid.

6. Yeah, theater hopping isn't too easy for me, either. I stick to seeing one movie at a time. Although I would hop if it were cheap.

7. *hands over cookie* Good job! And good luck with those apps.

8. *hands over jar of cookies to make Tiff feel better* I don't know what to say except that you're a smart, compotent, women so I have confidence that you'll figure everything out. And it sounds like you have some job prospects with those personal assistant apps, right? Or as a producer of Angels in America?

Peel me a grape, Claire!

2. March 4th, Hammerstein Ballroom. GA. Can't wait.

You know, for about 3 minutes, I thought you guys were going to Georgia for the show. re: U2 Thread: The saga continues... So. Jealous. How much were tix?

4. I thought the performances were great in BBM; this year's best actor Oscar race is tight.

Will you be waking up early to watch the nominees be announced? What are your predictions? BBM, BBM, BBM?

5. Aw, that sucks, Tiff. Boys are stupid.

They so are. At least DATE me before DUMPING me!

7. *hands over cookie* Good job! And good luck with those apps.

Thanks. Do you speak French? I've got this fear that the McGill people will call me and expect an impromptu interview to make sure my French is fluent, and frankly, it's a total mess. I can barely describe my clothing, much less argue a case en francais!

8. *hands over jar of cookies to make Tiff feel better* I don't know what to say except that you're a smart, compotent, women so I have confidence that you'll figure everything out. *cries* That was bee-oo-tiful! I don't know if I really have any prospects for personal assistant. I havea family friend who's a film production accountant, and he said most of the big celebs and directors will import their own assistants for the duration. I just figure it's 5 letters, $2.50 in stamps, and that's all I've got to lose. I don't know the likelihood of doing AiA either - I have no producer background, and the theatre is quite reputable, so my competition would be stiff. I hope they like my cover letter and resume enough that maybe I could be hired part-time or full-time as a producers' assistant. It would be fun, and I haven't worked in a theatre in forever!

Aaaand yooooou?

Tiff, I'm so proud of you for getting your SH*T done on time this go around. Have a cookie on me!

I did see GNaGL. I liked it much better than Syriana (and I totally closed my eyes during that whole torture scene, btw...though the sound was more than enough to get the point across for me!). There was something about the characters in GNaGL that I felt more of a connection to. I felt like Syriana was just like system overload. It definitely left a tangible vibe by the end, but...eh, I don't know. And yeah, I'll definitely be watching the nominations. I'm usually up around 8 anyway, so I won't really have to get up early for them (they come out at 5:30 PST, right?).

So sorry about the ratty guy. Though it sounds like it's just as well you found out he was a jackass right off the bat.

And I'm so glad you sent out all those resumes. It certainly can't hurt to send out for the positions. You never know what might come of them. I'll be keeping good thoughts for you!

I am going 100% full throttle for PSH, but I suspect that Joaquin will likely win after his car crash the other day. Hollywood loves a good story. re: U2 Thread: The saga continues...

I'm definitely torn between the pair of them. I feel like my loyalties lie with Phil (I always have that extra soft spot for someone that I've actually seen live on stage, and I was enthralled with his performance in Long Day's Journey)...But I've been on a Phoenix fix lately, and I really loved him in Walk the Line. Though I don't think he really stands a chance unless Phil and Heath split the vote. I still think the Foxx win last year would overshadow any "Let's make some sort of statement over the accident." How crazy was that, btw?!?! Flipping his car over and walking away without any major injuries!

Oh, and re: Queer Eye on Thursday. I'm looking forward to it, but I'm continually anxiety-ridden over royally screwing something up (like making the entire office sick after being there Thurs/Fri!) and not being able to make the most out of this opportunity. Anyway, it's been good thus far...no real complaints to speak of.

Just stifle your coughs so they don't know you're the one who gave the sickies to then. Then when you get better and they're still drugged up, you'll look REALLY good to them!

(And I'm still unemployed...why?) re: U2 Thread: The saga continues...

I would actually imagine that Heath would win if Phil and Phoenix split the vote, not the other way around. I think it's been a long time coming from P or P, and Heath is still considered a relative newbie into the "serious movie" genre.

Hmmm...that's interesting about the PSL/HL/JP thing. For me, I was figuring PSL and HL are the only ones who'd won more than one award. PSH has totally cleaned up, but I think HL has won 3 or 4. JP only won the Golden Globe, and that was pretty much just because he was in the other category. Dunno. I'm sure it's not really much of a competition. I'd be shocked if anyone other than Phil won. It probably is the role of his career, and I'd imagine a lot of it would be an award for consistently turning in great supporting performances for years.

To whom are you referring, Tiff? I missed something.

I think PSH is pretty much on track to clean up the awards this season. I would be surprised if he didn't win the Oscar. I still haven't seen Capote, I really want to, but in general I'm a huge admirer of his work. Even though I'd also be happy if Joaquin or Heath won.

And congrats to Reese on her SAG; I really hope she wins the Oscar!

G'morning Claire! My veiled reference was to one Miss R. Rocker who's been outed as being SweetQ! re: U2 Thread: The saga continues...

And this is dumb - last night I couldn't reply to PMs. Now I can't initiate any.

Hmmm...that's strange about your PMs. Can you reply to them now? Or are you totally PM-less?

And Claire, I totally agree about Reese. I haven't seen Transamerica, so I can't really say anything about Felicity's performance...but I do enjoy Reese. While I also adore Felicity Huffman, I believe Transamerica got some pretty mediocre reviews. I'm pretty sure she was the only thing that critics liked about it. While I'm sure her Bree was more of a stretch, I'd really like to see Reese win the Oscar...and I'm pretty sure Phil has his secured at this stage of the game (which I'm fine with).

And Tiff, lil Miss Rocker has returned? Was she just posting or did you get a PM from her (that you couldn't reply to)??

I can reply to them, I just can't initiate them if I hit the "PM" icon for someone. If I click it, I get a blank box. And if I Shift-Click it, I get a blank box and a window saying the page can't be displayed.

I would say based on difficulty, that Felicity has a better shot than Reese - I didn't see WTL, but it doesn't seem like Reese had that challenging of a role relatively speaking.

And yes, Miss Rocker has returned as SweetQInTheLights. She was dumb enough to post her cruise photos on a thread, and BSo was like, "I've seen photos of Raggy Q, and THAT is Raggy Q." I ran a search on "OCD" for both screen names, and found two lengthy posts on separate threads where their OCDs were nearly identical, down to the numbers (3 and 18 or something) that they always fiddle with in their head. I posted it on the BWW Freakout thread.

Oh, I'm sure Felicity had the more demanding role. I just don't think the fact that it's been out for almost 2 months and has just passed $1million and the fact that the film got pretty mixed reviews (I was reading some off-shoot of EW Magazine that we randomly got in the mail over the holidays and it got a 4/10). I just don't see her pulling it off at this stage of the game.

And Mlle. Rocker sounds like a right genius. Yeah, no one was going to catch on to her!! re: U2 Thread: The saga continues...
