Jane, I really admire how you bounced back and found a way to deal with a big loss this quickly. As I've said before, this is generally my M.O., but I'm happy to see it worked for you, too. Peaks and valleys...
Damn, I'm inexplicably excited about her impending arrival! Your reaction to Robbie Sue's death really affected me, it was so unguarded and since. I guess I'm feeling the happiness now, too.

Posted: 3/7/09 at 6:58pmMiss P, I think my sister is coming up Saturday....Maybe we could do a dinner type thing Friday? Or we could do something while I'm at my mom's which would be the 13th - 16th - she's in Leesburg.

Well done Jane. After Stoli (my cat) died rather suddenly last year, I still had my wee girl Zorra, but she was becoming even more reclusive than normal. I brought home Zander within a few days of Stoli's passing, and it made a world of difference for me (and for Zorra I think).
Pets can add so much value to your life.
And, I thought Miss P might advise you to name her Sidney J. Mussberger! Mary is a fine name.
And, she looks adorable.

Very funny, You! Sidney J. Mussberger is a boy's name! DUH!
"Mary" is one of the best names ever. Who doesn't like the name "Mary"?

YWIW, That picture isn't my bird, but just the way mine will probably look when I get her.
Yes, pets are family. In some cases, better than family. I can't wait. I've been watching videos of talking parrots and laughing my head off!

Posted: 3/7/09 at 7:10pmHonestly, I had never really gotten to know a bird before Robbie Sue. I had no idea how much fun they could be and what good company they are! But he changed all that. (Uh oh. I think I may be setting myself up for something.)

Great news, Jane! And if you're not 100% set on Mary, Cheyenne's a great name! Girl or boy. I'm just sayin'. Just in case the breeder's wrong.
But Mary is a very lovely name. I look forward to "meeting" her!

Thanks, you guys. Well, I'm sorry but I decided on the name Mary a long time ago. I knew that whatever pet I got, male or female, it was going to be Mary. First it was going to be Maryann, but now I shortened it.

Seriously Jane, I know it's hard to lose a pet, but come on. It WAS A BIRD. Not a dog, not a cat, not an actual person. IT WAS A BIRD. People are dying every day in Iraq. The economy's in the pooper. Show a little respect and decorum and don't involve us all in your miniscule personal issues.

"This is a BROADWAY forum."
Um, NO-this is NOT a broadway forum. This is the OFF TOPIC board so maybe you got lost, HON.
"People are dying every day in Iraq."
Yes, they are. And....?
"Show a little respect and decorum and don't involve us all in your miniscule personal issues."
No one in this thread was forced to be involved, toots. They, unlike you, GET it.
In my opinion, you're an idiot.
