Can we trade in HD for SporkGoddess? We may not agree with her politics but she can actually debate without it turning mean and ugly. Like I said, Theres alot I disagree with regarding her politics but at the same time I am sure theres alot of other things we do agree on. Not one of her posts do I get the impression she is trying to sway me to her side or convert me. She is trying to help me understand why she feels the way she does and there is nothing wrong with that. She is the complete opposite of HD and to compare the two is an insult to her.I think HD owes her an appology.

By the way HD, how did you like SiCKO? Where your review? Oh, and if you are going to stay out all night next time call! I was a nervous wreck!!

I love that she tries to sway me! What she does not have that HD does is ELITISM. Spork's real people and chats like a grown up to other grown ups. Except when she called me a doody head, but things were heated. HD drips with contempt and superiority (unfounded, we have learned with time) and calls people the one insult that best applies to him: elitist.

Plus, I automatically love ANYBODY who took the journey from Marxist to conservative. There's an interesting story there as opposed to somebody who's a conservative because their parents were and they have mommy and daddy issues. (Hi HD!)

Obviously, HD realizes it too, which is where his desperate plea to back peddal and prove that he is worthy of her notice comes in. It was in this thread, in a post to Spork, that he said that he doesn't agree with everything Bush does. He has NEVER said that in a discussion with the people he has been disrupting for months. He said the immigration thing was a DISASTER for Bush. But before he was trying to pitch woo with Spork, he continually labelled it a Kennedy issue. Basically, he sucks at interaction. But this stuff is hilarious to watch.

Okay, Spork. I take back what I said about you having no credibility, especially since you took back saying that "every Democrat" believed there were WMDs, which is what I said destroyed your credibility to begin with.

I hereby nominate you for the PalJoey/PapaLovesMambo Truce Award in the Every Liberal's Favorite Intelligent Conservative category.

Aww, thanks! I'm very flattered. DDT IS IN Da House And thanks to you all for not killing me--I know a lot of places where I would have been eaten alive just for my political views.

Yeah, I shouldn't have said "every." That was definitely my bad.

My parents are actually Independents, and my sister's a Democrat (she loooves Obama, for instance.) Though I don't think that she's actually a member of the party...

My parents and grandparents are members of the democrat party.

On this board, truth doesn't count. It is only the repetitive statements made by loony tune liberals that they take for truth.

There is a Bed and Breakfast, and I currently live there.

Chanticleer is no longer posting, and has not been posting for many months.

Bullies and stalkers that are afraid of strong disagreements do nothing but attack the poster personally.

Please don't indulge in your self-congratulatory and self absorbed remarks about getting alons so well with every other person that disagrees with you. Some posters have attacked Goddess. they have attacked me. They have attacked my friends.

You'll find that almost always, they won't discuss any issue. They simply start in with absurd personal attacks on the poster that are demonstrably false.

But, truth doesn't matter. They try to make you a monster, and spend the remainder of their comments trying to destroy the person.

And I thought Bill and Hillary were opposed to the politics of personal destruction.

But, it's a beautiful day in the neighborhood. The Bed and Breakfast group has a wonderful weekend planned. Some of them are even going to NYC to Patti Lu is Gypsy.

Summer is great. Thanks.

Projection and hypocrasy. It's probably all an act, anyway. Spork doesn't seem to me the type to fall for all that nonsense.

Yeah, read the SistahToldjah post, then read robbiej's response, then...further down...read the post by he-who-must-not-be-named.

I like people who can back up their statements instead of just spouting rhetoric and personal attacks, whether they be Democrats or Republicans.

Of course, politics bring out the worst side in people, so it's hard to judge anyone just from these types of threads.

Spork. I agree with you to a point. But, if one ONLY engages in such threads, and with such hypocrisy and other such character traits, it's very easy to judge that person. It's very telling.

I could be wrong, but I honestly thnk Bush has 'taken over' its become worse. Bush has divided this country like no other 'leader' in this country. People take politics alot more personally these days (God know i do)A dig towards a politician you like or endorse is like a personal insult. I think Bush has done SO MUCH damage to this country his followers will do anything to defend him.

I can't agree; I remember when my family was screaming at each other during Bush vs. Gore, and that was before Bush was elected, before Iraq, etc. Politics have always been a dividing issue.

The difference is that Bush had an opportunity, post- 9/11, to really unify the country. Had he not used his political capital to pursue a far-right agenda, and instead tried to represent all Americans, I think we would be in a much different place right now - at least in terms of the civility of the debate and the ability to disagree with someone without being called a traitor.

The Democrats in power were muted in fear after 9/11, and can be held partly to blame for the current dynamic, as can the history of certain appointments, but Bush had an amazing opportunity to unify this country like no other President in my lifetime - and he through it away in the pursuit of partisan politics.

Well, I haven't called anyone a traitor. Just saying.

Bush pursued his own politics, not conservative ones.

Pro-big government and a ton of federal spending. Opposite of conservative.

I can't, but I also don't really care what other countries think. So I'm a bad person to tell.

Also, you can't deny that there's been a trend of said countries electing leaders who are similar in politics to Bush and/or support him.

He seems to really love the big tabaco companies. CNN today reported that he will veto a bill that would increase the tax on cigarettes to benefit children's health care. A true compassionate conservative!

You should care what other countries think. Bush is representing us. He is creating enemeies who want to kill us. The world thinks the USA is a bad country. Look at the support we got on 911 throughout the world. If we have another attack do you think we'll get so much support? Bush has burned all bridges. I think its very irresponsible for you not to care. This is YOUR country as well. How can you be so passionate about politics if you don't care how we are perceived? Our image worldwide is VERY IMPORTANT!
