The Pitch Perfect series is one of my most favorite series and I have been really wanting to see the third movie. I listened to the whole soundtrack and enjoyed it. I did notice that there's one song the Bellas sing that has instruments and that song is Freedom '90. I've looked at the reviews on Rotten Tomatoes and both the audience score and critics score are rotten. I'm seriously wondering if it's that bad. I'm planning to see the movie this week so please, no spoilers! ![]()

Posted: 12/26/17 at 7:24pmI mean, the short answer is yes. I personally love the first one, but I think the sequel was as horrible and unfunny as it was unnecessary. So if you enjoyed PP2, you’ll probably at least be able to tolerate 3.

Posted: 12/26/17 at 9:46pmThe problem with part 2 is it essentially became 100 minutes of Rebel Wilson’s schtick on a continuous loop. And while it was very funny in moderation in the original film, it was just so forced and unfunny in the sequel and from what I hear it’s that tenfold in the third one.

The first one was perfection, and unfortunately Hollywood has yet to learn not to mess with perfection. I will forever respect Kristen Wiig and Annie Mumolo for turning down millions of dollars to make a sequel to BRIDESMAIDS; they understood that legacy has no price (of course, they didn't need the money after the first one made so much, which helps). I didn't find PITCH PERFECT 2 as terrible as some, I thought Hailee Steinfeld was a nice addition and Elizabeth Banks' direction kept things going. But they had no clue how to move those characters forward in any way that mattered, the humor (which was so fresh in the original) felt completely flat, and the Latinx character they added just to make some awful jokes about immigrants was plain offensive. I was willing to give the third one a chance, but the previews make it look horrendous. I don't know why anyone thought that these characters ever needed to be involved in an explosion or have a skydiving malfunction or be in any of those other nonsensical situations shown in the previews. It also looks like an exact retread of the first and second movies.

I saw it a couple nights ago and I thought it was really a lot of fun. The 2nd was actually always my favorite of the three, but I tend to enjoy the silly humor of Rebel Wilson. John Lithgow was a fun addition as (SPOILER) Fat Amy's estranged father. The ending was fine, but I feel like the end of the second one tied things up well enough. If you go in expecting something substantial, you won't get it. However if you want another fun musical comedy with some well sung pop tunes, this will satisfy just as the first two did.

Posted: 12/27/17 at 10:44amI don’t think anyone goes for substance. But there are plenty of insubstantial movies I find hilarious. Pitch Perfect 2 and 3 are not on that list, while Pitch Perfect 100% is. There’s a difference between a waste of time and insubstantial.

Oh, no doubt ....but I was responding to Gleek (above me) who warned about not expecting substance.

I'm also wondering if Stacie is in the movie. She was on the posters for the 1st and 2nd movies, but she's not on it this time and I didn't see her in the trailer. So, is she in the movie or is she not?
Btw, I can kinda see how they messed this last movie up. Removing the Trebles was probably their first mistake.

Stacie is in the movie but has a smaller part, she has a sweet moment towards the middle of the film.
I saw the movie lasts night. I went in with low expectations and ended up liking it. It's obviously no where near as strong as the first film but I still enjoyed it for what it was.
