Posted: 3/17/08 at 12:12amIt wasn't bad... just underwhelming. I think my voice is just tired from, well, nonstop use all day, every day for a semester, so my falsetto was kind of just not totally there, which for "Don't Do Sadness" is a problem. The casting director and Kim Grigsby (SA musical director) seemed to be kind of rocking out during the first part of the song, not so sure what they thought after the falsetto section. I think it was just a combination of not being in great voice and the nerves. My reading went fine, they just had me do such a short section of the side. I felt like I wasn't in there as long as some of the other people, but a lot of people were reading for multiple characters. The whole thing was being videotaped for the rest of the creative team, who will soon be chuckling over my shoddy falsetto (which is usually quite good I might add, making it all the more disappointing).

Yeah, I'm sure you did great! I mean, you got a call back for SPRING AWAKENING!!!! That's a lot more than I can say for myself...and if it were me, my nerves would have definitely gotten the best of me. Sounds like you did just fine.

You should be very proud for just getting that far in the audition process. I wish I was a few years younger so I could audition for that show, that would be such a fun audition.

I am, Akiva. I guess to be only 20 and already have a Broadway callback under my belt is pretty respectable. And I guess I shouldn't really count myself out yet anyway.
Well, I'm off. I think I'm going to watch my Tivo of "John Adams." Laura Linney makes everything better!

So I had a dream that my brother in Guatemala sent me an oversized package. For some reason, Tink was with me when the mailman delivered it and insisted on taking a peek. I said, "Sure, go ahead." I haven't decided yet. He DOES have actual homosexuality in his favor...it'd break my heart, but you just might get typed out, babe.
