I have to agree with the others that say it wasn't Jane's talent, it was the really bad writing. But also, it was like they didn't know what to do with her. It's like they thought "Ok, she can do Sue and she can do a lesbian skit, now we only have to fill 50 more minutes."
The opening monologue was good.
The Glee skit was one of the worst I've seen. Gilly was never a funny character and they should drop the character immediately. But to put it in Glee was ridiculous. There were several different ways they could have gone with Glee but they just decided to punt that one.
I thought the psychiatrist short was good and the NFL singer was good. The others were just mediocre.
Her trying to play Phyllis Diller in Password was ok, but the skit didn't go anywhere. The Suze Orman skit was clever but didn't go anywhere either. And the final movie director skit was a filler skit that you could tell was rushed because they were running out of time.
If SNL had balls, they would have had Jane play Hillary Clinton. They could have used her skills so much more than they did.
If anyone ever tells you that you put too much Parmesan cheese on your pasta, stop talking to them. You don't need that kind of negativity in your life.
