The FCC fine is thrown out.

This is good news. The magnitude of flap over this "scandal" was the most ridiculous I have ever seen.
You have won this time Janet's Nipple! But be sure we will meet again, and it will be a different story!

Because we all know that showing a man ripping off a woman's shirt while singing "I'm gonna have you naked by the end of this song" is a positive message that we want our children to learn.
Oh, puh-leeeeze! It was less than one. Second. Of. Bare. Breast. That isn't dangerous to anyone, Goth. Not man, woman, or child.
While I agree that it was lame as a publicity stunt for these two idiots, it was not at all deserving of the uproar of the people who were so "outraged". As I was discussing with Papa earlier, in the 00's "outrage" seems to be everyone's favorite hula hoop. I'm not sure people even know what real outrage feels like anymore.
I refer you to my earlier post about our Puritan heritage.
If he'd slashed her throat during the song, we wouldn't have heard a peep from anyone.
But a nanosecond of nip? Call the cops!
I'm very happy that reason prevailed.
i hope next year it's a few labia!

It wasn't the content of the song that offended, it was the glimpse of a woman's nipple that set off the outrage.
Because women's bodies are just so disgusting that we have to protect children from the possibility of any glimpse of them. Nudity is so disgusting, that's why God created clothes.
Filthy dirty nasty titty!! Nasty!!
Well, actually with that thing on the nipple, it kind of is. Maybe if people had called in to express their outrage at Janet's lack of taste in accouterments, I'd understand.
accouterments
she showed her couter too???? damn, now i really wanna see that pic.

Once again, you fail to address what I have said. Obviously you have no problem with the rape aspect of the song?
What was portrayed was done in Central Park a few years ago during the Puerto Rican Day parade and it was considered a crime.
goth, the fine was not for song content it was for nudity and as such your mention of the content has really no place in the discussion of the fine and the corresponding appeal.
I don't address it, Goth because it is too ridiculous for words. I believe the song is about seduction and consensual sex...not even sex really just sexiness. The insinuation that this song on the Super Bowl encourages or condones rape is patently absurd.
Really Goth, I never cease to be amazed at what a paranoid, fearful, morbid world you live in.

No one had an issue with the alleged rape aspect of the song. It wasn't an issue. The nipple was the issue.
And the following year they had Paul McCartney singing "Live And Let Die," which basically advocates murder, and "Get Back," a song about drug smugglers. No uproar at all.
Rape, murder, drug smuggling: OK
Nipples: BAD BAD BAD.
I think that the rape aspect of the song sent a positive message to the children who were watching.
It was the nipple that I have a problem with.

I like to dream it had been Janet Reno instead of Janet Jackson. She would have shown that whippersnapper how to treat a woman.

Since then, the Superbowl shows have been MUCH more wholesome.
Disgusting.
Why couldn't they get Debby Boone or Anne Murray or someone nice?

EXACTLY papa. I love me some Janet Reno. I hear she & Donna Shalala used to get in Janet's red pickup and drive up into the mountains of Virginia where they would skinny dip and camp in a tent. That's my idea of heaven.
just lost my breakfast, thanks, joe.

"No Janet, it's MY turn to wield the flaming lovestick tonight!"
I love the wardrobe malfunction. Those are snaps on her bustiere under the exposed breast. Seems the costume functioned as it was meant too.
