I must say that I am glad that Tammy Faye has held on long enough to hear this news.
We must only speak good of the dead.
Jerry Falwell is dead.
Good.

Matt Foreman, Executive Director, National Gay and Lesbian Task Force:
"The death of a family member or friend is always a sad occasion and we express our condolences to all those who were close to the Rev. Jerry Falwell. Unfortunately, we will always remember him as a founder and leader of America’s anti-gay industry, someone who exacerbated the nation’s appalling response to the onslaught of the AIDS epidemic, someone who demonized and vilified us for political gain and someone who used religion to divide rather than unite our nation."
Joe Solmonese, President, Human Rights Campaign:
"Reverend Falwell’s death today causes my thoughts to turn toward the members of our community who have at great personal sacrifice contended with the Reverend’s work and teachings. As I remember Reverend Falwell’s life, I also remember all of the families of people who have died of AIDS. Reverend Falwell’s legacy is not about the tenants of Jesus’ ministry such as healing the sick and standing with the disenfranchised but about shunning and ridiculing those who have suffered and died of AIDS and their families. Many faith leaders today are moving away from his divisive approach and toward the compassion and inclusiveness that Jesus modeled every day of his ministry."

Posted: 5/15/07 at 4:34pmWhen a person spends his entire life, practically, devoted to the spread of hate under the guise of "Well, Jesus said so!" there should be no pity. You have to earn the right to be mourned in my opinion and he forfeited that long ago.

I certainly hope so.

I hope it was not my comparison to "he who must not be named" and Falwell that got the other thread deleted. Sorry if it was.
Anyway, back to square one...
Good riddance to an evil man.

Can't say I'll miss him.
I was reading the Anna Nicole Smith dies thread the other day. All those people whinning about how tragic it is when ANYONE dies...
Where are all those broken hearts now?

The name Robertson was unbeknownst to me before reading that post Liverpool so I wikipedia'd him.

I haven't giggled reading something like that in a long time under some of the remarks he made regarding meteors and malfunctioning earpieces that prevented him from knowing what he was agreeing to (not like he wouldn't have anyway "had he known"). At least this dead bastard knew enough to "apologize." I bet he is real sorry now that he missed seeing the meteor come to obliterate the gays.

I thought Mr Falwell was the one who spewed hatred
As we all will, Mr Falwell will have to answer for his life. I cannot say I am surpised by the jubilation over his death. What goes around comes around
By responding in this manner, you sink to his level

Posted: 5/15/07 at 6:31pmWhatever. That is how the discussion of He Who Must Not Be Named started, Roxy. You mourn in your straight man way way and let those who were the target of his unabashed and unrelenting hatred celebrate in ours.

I do not mourn him .
He lived his life, has died & now is in eternity. There is much hatred on this board for anyone who does not agree with the majority & I have seen some reverse hatred or dislike for straights. I pay it no never mind.
I treat everyone equally & say live & let live. Life is too short for anyone to hate anyone else
