Fatone had the "good luck" to become fat and funny, and not to worry about being the man he was famous for being. As such, he's become a regular in musical theatre character roles and sitcom guest appearances, because he's not afraid to let himself be the butt of the joke a little. I hope the guys in One Direction find the same flexibility of ego.

I ends up happening to most Boy Bands. Their time in the spotlight for the most part is short. Most often they age out of being a teen idol or end up just growing tired of it.

When I first saw this piece yesterday, the byline WAS Joey Fatone. I checked as that was my immediate thought. Clever, though. I don't know when they changed it - when Fatone's lawyer called?
