Will there be an egg toss? I'll supply the eggs!

re: Jose - How About .....A NYC Picnic

Again, I feel strongly that it's a mistake to attempt to over-organize this. You can't assign things to people because there is no accountability. This will be a gathering of people who, for the most part, don't know each other, may not be totally comfortable eating food prepared by strangers, and may or may not show up as the day falls into place.

I propose that the food, drinks, plates and whatever, be left up to the individual (or small groups). If someone brings enough to share, even better. But I don't want to spend the day being pissed off because the person who said he was bringing the mustard decided, at the last minute, not to come. The exception might be having some kind person, like Mr. Roxy perhaps, say he will bring the charcoal and lighter fluid.

Bottom line, the key to the success of an event like this is keeping it simple.

Really, all we need is for someone (ie Jose) to name the time and place and to make sure that we don't need a permit. It would be fun to know who is planning to come, but as we've seen from previous events, the RSVP list and who actually shows up is often very different.

I vote for a bring your own food, and then if you want to bring something like a dessert to share, that's cool. We cannot have alcohol in the park, correct?

re: Jose - How About .....A NYC Picnic

I will not be able to come, but it seems like a great idea.
Have fun!
I stand corrected, you are as vapid as they say.

I totally agreee with Iflit, and KMF's concurrence.

I believe it's enough to say we're meeting at a certain place, at a certain time and on certain day. Then whomever wants to come is welcome.

This will be totally pot-luck.

Sunday, June 26th

2pm till ????

SouthWEST (not east) corner of the Sheep Meadow
(that's the Tavern on the Green side of the meadow.)

I will ask for a headcount as we get nearer to the date.

Alcohol is not permitted in the park.

I will check about permits.

I'll be there... I have the perfect pink picnic blanket!

Can we wear pearls?
Will there be entertainment?
Can we put on skits and sing songs?
Will there be games and prizes?

I'd still like to know if there will be an egg toss. How about a three-legged race? Can I be partnered with Jose'?

Indeed it is, Beav. Gay Pride is always the last Sunday in June in NYC. Alas, my gay ass will be unable to attend. But it's sure to give new meaning to the phrase "gayer than a picnic basket".

Jose'... how can you even think of shirking your Grand Marshall duties?

Addy, I'm wearing MY pearls! re: Jose - How About .....A NYC Picnic And my pink cardigan with the sparklies.

Sounds like a ton of fun...I'll do my best to be there. And maybe I can pick up a bunch of those "Hello! My name is: " nametag things from my work so those of us who haven't met anyone can know who's who.

This sounds so exciting. Gotta look into travel plans and whether I can kill several birds with the same stone. I just 'might' be able to attend... it's Pride here too, but oh well.

I don't do Pride festivities anymore - it's a young lesbian's game.

But for anyone who does, you can join our party before, after, or in between Pride celebrations!

There would be no harm in picking another date later in the summer...say August...for BWW Picnic: The Sequel. That would give out-of-towners a little advanced notice.

re: Jose - How About .....A NYC Picnic

I don't follow the Gay Pride Day schedule. It's not something that's a point of focus in my life.

Someone else suggested 6/26. For me, it's just as good a day as any other. I will plan accordingly.

If you plan to attend, or drop by, may I please ask that you send a PM to me so I can begin to track attendees. It will be helpful to have a reasonably accurate headcount as we get nearer to the date.

It would be embarrasing to call attention to ourselves as the "rather large group singing show tunes in Sheep Meadow," and find ourselves evicted because we were assembling without a permit.

Also Sheep Meadow is a "Quiet Zone." Not music playing, no softball, no grilling/ no this, no that. Just sitting around in the shade and drinking champagne or wine out of innocent looking paper cups. re: Jose - How About .....A NYC Picnic

re: Jose - How About .....A NYC Picnic

Lord knows I don't want to complicate things, but would it make sense to meet on Saturday, June 25th instead, so as not to conflict with the Gay Pride Parade? Saturday is just as goo of a picnic day as Sunday...

re: Jose - How About .....A NYC Picnic

I might have a show on the 25th (will find out next week).
My schedual is: I have Sunday-Tuesday free, every other day I have *either 8 hours of rehearsal + full time job* or *Show + full time job* (I'm in around 7 shows in 8 weeks)
