I know the penalty is set based on the crime but $2,500 is a joke to him.

As one who's driven in South Florida (including Miami), he had to have been driving really fast and crazily to get picked up-the cops are almost immune to the speeding and nutty driving that happens there.

A quick google search reveals that a DUI for a legal immigrant could potentially lead to deportation hearings only if he is convicted and sentenced to one year or more in prison. Given Bieber's celebrity status and expensive lawyers I doubt that will happen, but with him only being 19, the marijuana and the ongoing investigation regarding the vandalism the lawyers seem to have quite a battle to fight.
