After watching Kathy do damage control on The View today, I have even less respect for her, and the way she chose to handle the situation. Asked Lena Dunham to help craft the statement that she released via Twitter??? Asked her celebrity friends to tweet their support of her because she knew she was going up against a major corporation??? Yuck! The whole thing reeks of calculated desperation. And nice way to honor your dear friend's memory...by backstabbing her daughter and biting the hand that feeds you. Whether Kathy lobbied for the job, as some sources claim, or whether she was wooed by Melissa, as she claims, it's a real slap in the face to the memory of the woman she called her friend and mentor. I've always considered myself a fan, but I'm so disappointed in her right now.

TO ME*, she epitomizes every negative aspect of show business. Huge ego, does anything to get ahead, throws so called friends under the bus even after they're dead, has a mean spirited act in making fun of everyone around, changes her appearance through multiple cosmetic surgeries, seems like a huge phony.

She's a disgusting hypocrite. How dare she admit that she did not feel this was her at her best? How dare she ask a writer she respects for help and say it publicly? How dare she explain that she did not feel this was the right fit for her? Awful awful human being. She not only represents the worst of show business, but the worst of human nature really.

I know, Dottie. I heard that on Wendy Wiiliams just now. I agree with something Wendy said. She said she doesn't believe that anyone quit over Giullianas remarks and that they just don't all get along working together so they used that for an excuse. I totally agree, and I also heard that those remarks were written for Giulliana. Makes sense. And Wendy said the show is probably cancelled, because out of sight, out of mind.

So how is Joan Rivers getting surgery after surgery and making fun of celebrities for their appearance different than Griffin? Because Rivers was "in" on the joke?
Kathy was "in" on her jokes as well. She's always made fun of herself. Anyway, I don't know what all the fuss is about. It's Fashion Police we're talking about. It existed as a playground for Rivers and the show was based entirely on being cruel and judgmental tailored specifically to her style of comedy. Kathy's style is very different and fashion was never part of her act. Without Rivers, the show had no reason to exist. Either the tone would change completely or the true nature of the show would be revealed in a harsher light because Rivers always got a pass on the subject. It was doomed.

I never heard her making fun of herself. ANYHOO (how I hate that word), I despise that woman so much that it prompted my very harsh comments about her. So, whatever. I don't have to look at or listen to her.

There has been a lengthy ongoing conversation on these boards for years about targets and limits of comedy. There have been long threads discussing Joan Rivers, Lisa Lumpagnelli, Kathy Griffin and many people have contributed to the discourse over the years. Jane among them.

Jungle red, I only saw your post because I was replying to love puppy. Answer- I am what I am. I gush when I love something and I gush when I dislike something. that's the kind of gal I am. I don't know why my opinions mean so much to you, as Matt said.

Jane and I have completely opposite views of Rivers and Griffin, yet we love each other and aren't nasty to each other about it. Why can't Jungle Red do the same?
