If you know anything about Kathy Griffin's comedy you know she would not leave someone out of her act because they sent her a tweet to support her. Her celebrity best friends are always part of her act, she is very clear that nothing is off limits to her, and she sticks to that. To say that someone like Jane Lynch is sending her a supportive tweet so she can not be in her act is a bit absurd, and again, out of tune with Griffin's comedy.
I'm also baffled by the thought that she was somehow not fashion-savvy enough, as if she was brought in for her fashion expertise. Obviously, when she was cast it was about keeping the comedy going, which is what Joan Rivers mostly did. She would leave the main fashion commentary for the other three and use her turn to deliver some bad John Travolta joke, which often did not have to do with the outfit at all. I loved the fact she laughed during her jokes, it brought the audience in on the joke, and showed that she knew how ridiculous the comment was. Griffin's delivery is different, and yet it is so clear to me that she gets the level of ridiculousness.
I respect what she wrote, and what I like about her is that she puts her money where her mouth is. I just rewatched the Oscar episode of the show and Griffin's joke were on fire. I'm excited to see her perform in DC and hear her dish on the behind the scenes of the show.
