I don't understand the numbers, but good for her. She's got a really good voice.

When Glen Beck's book shoots to number 1 or Sarah Palin's new book gets glowing reviews a month before it is released, who do you think buys those books and writes those reviews? You can tell with the New York Times best sellers which books are bought in bulk and almost every right wing author has their book purchased by companies like Fox News or Newsmax (or millionaires like the Koch brothers)and given away as gifts. This way they can call themselves a "best selling author" who sold the most books that week.
Same exact thing here. Her sales are simply a 'thank you for your support gesture'. NOTHING ELSE. Anyone who actually thinks these are all new fans who have discovered this American Idol winner(who won, not by talent but receiving the most calls/votes on a 'call in to vote talent show') are really fooling themselves.
I'm sure the star of 'FROM JUSTIN TO KELLY' is rethinking backing away from her support and will speak out again about her support towards this racist and homophobe. David Dukes was considering a run for political office earlier this year. Maybe Kelly will support him as well.Maybe Michael Savage can have her on his show. Tony Perkins and Maggie Gallagher should call up Kelly and see if she would like to be a spokeswoman for their cause. I am almost certain she would say yes. How soon before the Tea Party start asking her to perform at their rallies?
Kelly is enjoying the price of hate right now AND IT IS HATE. Her sudden success and record sales are all due to hate. Any moron can see her sales are not coming from her fans(who I am sure a good number have cut her off) I predict we'll be hearing more from Kelly very soon now that she has attracted a new fan base.

Well I'm not jumping to any conclusion about her until Justin Guarini issues a statement about this.

Oh jeeze...
Get over it.
Celebri-tards open their mouths all of the time and show how stupid they can be. She is a singer/song writer, not a political analyst
Unless you are a die-hard fans of hers who just can't get past the fact that maybe she doesn't have ALL of the answers, why are you so worried about it? Sounds like some of you are just getting angry to have something to be angry about.

I can't speak for anyone else, but I get angry when racism and homophobia is rewarded, and lets face it Kelly is selling a lot of cd's because she supports(and I assume agrees) with a man who is racist and homophobic.I think while she embraces the record sales she should also pay the price and be labeled the same as Ron Paul. You can't say with a straight face you are not racist or anti gay and then support and say you will vote for a man who is racist and anti gay.She is really stupid if she thinks people can't see that.
Her fans are turning on her. Question is, is she smart enough to just keep her fat mouth shut or when Ron Paul eventually drops out will she endorse another hater in hopes for more attention and success? She is as blank as a fart so my guess is she will endorse Santorum, Gingrich,Romney or whoever the GOP Nominee is.

You were angry from your first post, before you even knew about her record sales.
She didn't do her research and supported someone who you don't like... So what?!
And calling her 'fat' and 'stupid' are no way to get your point across.

Of course I was angry. That is why I posted in the first place. Still am but I am getting over it because I think a lot of her fans are more pissed than I am (and I am not a fan of hers by any means)
Its not that she supported someone I didn't like. Its the fact that she has a huge gay following, she endorsed a very anti gay candidate, and then was shocked her fans were so upset with her support. Her arrogance is what pissed me off.I like Kelsey Grammar and he supports Michelle Bachman, another anti gay candidate. So, I don't think it is just supporting someone I disagree with.
I never called her fat. I said she should shut her fat mouth. IMO, she is,and others tend to agree,is stupid.Stupid because she tried to back peddle and 'claim' she did not know Ron Paul was anti gay or racists. Well, like you said, she did not do her research. So, in my opinion she is stupid.I think I have made my point.

Yes, you have.
You are, or were, very upset at something someone said. Someone who you don't really like in the first place.
Does being angry all of the time make you tired?

I was? Do tell. Who was I upset with? I'm not angry all the time.Like I mentioned before, racism and homophobia bring out the worst in me and before the other day, Kelly Clarkson never really came into my thoughts. So,I guess I am taking your advice. I'm not as bitter with her or her arrogance as I was in my first post.Still, she supports a nasty hateful man but it does not matter because he won't win the nomination. So,I guess we wait until she endorses someone else or comments on this further.

I don't see why she would comment on this further. In her 10 year career she's only made 2 political comments. The first was back in 08 saying she liked Hilary and Obama. The second is this.
As for her fans, I really don't see much of a backlash. Most of the people who were upset weren't really fans of hers to begin with. Then there's the fact that we live in an ADD society, and everyone's already moved on to Russell and Katy's divorce, and Beyonce's baby.

I know a lot of liberals who are crazy over Ron Paul...and many of them gay. Many people fall in love with his anti war stance and "live and let live" ideals. Because of this people overlook the details like he wants to deregulate Wall Street, strip environmental protections, etc.
And I wouldn't count him out as the nominee. He has the enthusiasm building that Obama had in 08 when no one thought he could get the nomination either. And if he doesn't get the nomination I think he'll run as a 3rd party candidate. And with the way Obama has been acting that won't be a spoiler for the GOP, but for him.

Great article in the Village Voice about this pressing issue that concerns YOU.

I still don't understand these percentages. So if she saw a 1350% increase in sales (which I assume is what JP meant?) how many did she actually sell?

Kelly's sales this week. 17 Kelly Clarkson “Stronger” 25K (-40%) Total: 451K (39)
Those sales percentages referenced earlier are from Amazon.com and were percentages gained from previous positions. Amazon sells about 10% of the music market. While she clearly did gain from her endorsement, it wasn't ZOMG amazing numbers, and probably not worth the amount of real fans she pissed off. Music sales decrease dramatically the first week of January so if anything, it cushioned what could have been a 60-70% decrease in sales. She did gain chart position though and no doubt RCA loves the numbers.
I'm a casual Kelly fan, like some of her music, think she has a great voice, but really disappointed when I read the headlines. while she can endorse anyone she wants, I was hoping she was just uninformed about RP's bigotry and hoped that after her fans clued her in, she might make a statement. But she didn't.
