Kelly Clarkson endorses Ron Paul

I am amazed at these people who claim they are not racists nor anti gay. However, when they support a political candidate who clearly has a history of being a homophobe and a racist, they are surprised people are actually criticizing them.
She can support whoever she likes. Its a free country. But don't act "surprised" when your fans turn on you. You come across as being an idiot who has not researched the candidate you support. Either way,it does not look good for you.I suspect she will go into damage control ASAP.

Figure I'd put this on here so people get the full "story".
Kelly apparently first tweeted:
I love Ron Paul. I liked him a lot during the last republican nomination and no one gave him a chance. If he wins the nomination for the Republican party in 2012 he's got my vote. Too bad he probably won't.
After getting some backlash she replied:
I am really sorry if I have offended anyone. Obviously that was not my intent. I do not support racism. I support gay rights, straight rights, women's rights, men's rights, white/black/purple/orange rights. I like Ron Paul because he believes in less government and letting the people (all of us) make the decisions and mold our country. That is all. Out of all of the Republican nominees, he's my favorite.
After even more backlash she released this:
Man my eyes have been opened to so much hate tonight. If y'all ever disagree with something I say please don't feel the need to attack me. I will listen to what you say and any articles or viewpoints you have when you say it with respect. Being hateful is not a healthy way to get people to see or hear you. I was raised to respect people and their decisions and beliefs and I hope you will grant me the same decency. If you don't agree with me simply unfollow me. It's really that easy. I hope you don't because I would love the chance to hear what you have to say but if you're so blinded by hate you can't seek peace and progress then that is your unfortunate prerogative.
By the way I'm still fan of hers and seeing her concert in a few months.

So she's a Republican, to boot. A shame.

"But as the singer examined her Twitterfeed, she began to learn disturbing things. Subsequently, she Tweeted:
I have never heard that he’s a racist? I definitely don’t agree with racism, that’s ignorant.
And, upon encountering a rumor that Dr. Paul is a homphobe:
I love all people and could care less if you like men or women. I have never seen or heard Ron Paul say anything against gay people?"
I am thinking Kelly doesn't research much? Maybe she heard him speak once on CNN and decided he's the one? but that's most Republicans, no? This Republican field is good news for decent people everywhere?

It's like when people go, "Ron Paul is great. He's against the wars and for legalizing drugs" but don't actually pull at any threads.

You really don't need to dig very far- Google "Ron Paul Nuts" and get thousands and thousands of replies.
But this has been the format of the Republican Presidential campaign. Each candidate in turn emerges from under the refrigerator. The spotlight hits it and it scurries away revealed to be vermin.
As I head some pundit explain why Santorum's ratings plummet the more he advertises "When voters get a look at this guy, they realize they HATE him!"

She's not very bright, is she? She tweeted this:
"Man my eyes have been opened to so much hate tonight."
Yeah Kelly, so much Hate. You openly support a man who has welcomed the endorsement of a man who wants to execute all gays.Ron Paul is all too happy to get Reverend Rev. Phillip G. Kayser endorsement. ROn Paul, a man who thinks it was a mistake for us to kill Osama Bin Laden.
So, killing Bin laden is bad but an endorsement from a man who wants to kill all gay people is good.
Kelly, you deserve all the criticism you get.

I don't think you need to be a Republican to **like** Ron Paul or at least like some of his ideas. You'd be surprised how many self-labeled moderates, centrists, liberals, and even Democrats say they have liked him over the years, especially the twenty-somethings who just seem to agree with him about the war and decriminalizing drugs part.
I could understand Kelly feeling this way in 2008 when he was an internet phenomenon but has she not checked the news in the last 2 weeks?

Someone should forward her his newsletter from 1995.

When confronted, Ron Paul said he didn't read what was in the newsletter. Okay, the newsletter is called The Ron Paul Newsletter. Your name is on the damn thing.Own up to it Ron. Running away and playing the blame game makes you look like a coward.

It's a shame that she's getting so much hate and backlash, especially since she's one of the nicest people out there.
But, GASP! a celebrity who was born and bred in Texas (and voted Democrat in the 2008 election) might endorse a, wait for it, REPUBLICAN! THE HORROR!!!
Now suddenly she's an idiot, a racist, and a homophone. Give me a break.

People should leave her alone. They are taking this way too seriously. They are acting like she is supporting a terrorist or something.

IMO, she is an idiot. Support who you like. But when you support a candidate who has views that are hateful and you claim those views are not views you agree with you have to ask, why the hell do you support this jerk? So, any backlash she gets she deserves. End of story.I think this is what her fans are feeling and why they are so outraged.
FYI, I never said SHE was a racist or a homophobe. However, she supports one and would vote for him. She clearly did not know about his background before she supported him. IMO, that makes her an idiot.

She can support whomever she likes. However, when she announces her support for a candidate who is both a racist and a homophobe, she needs to understand that that's going to annoy many of her fans- a large contingency of whom are minorities and/or gay. She should not act flustered and shocked that this endorsement is disappointing to many of her And when you endorse a candidate that espouses those opinions, you ought to be prepared for the backlash.

I do think she's very brave to come out in favor of rights for purple and orange people. It's clear she's got a real grasp on ALL the issues.
Also, that whole "Ron Paul" gets no attention is a total MSM meme, so clearly she's paying attention to something. She just must be profoundly incurious and unable to critically think. Or Google.

Her own lyrics are fitting right now:
"If you speak, you'll only piss'em off. If you don't, you're another robot."
"I do think she's very brave to come out in favor of rights for purple and orange people."
Hey, I mean, if she wants to support Snooki and Seacrest, that's her prerogative.

Man my eyes have been opened to so much hate tonight.
I love that she followed this up with a screed against Twitter haters, rather than the hate perpetuated by Paul. Because what really matters isn't the bigotry and inequality millions of Americans are subject to every day; it's that her feelings were hurt! White/straight/cisgender privilege at its finest.

I met Kelly Clarskson about 5 years or so ago at Long Beach gay pride. She was there to support a mutual friend of ours that was doing stand up on the main stage. My conclusion after spending the afternoon with her is that there is not one single homophobic thought in that lady. A really nice Texan gal. Probably very uneducated in politics. But so are 99.9 % of U.S. citizens.

That sentence works without "homophobic" as well.

She gained 10k new followers on twitter, and her album is up 400% on amazon. It also seems to be increasing on iTunes. Did NOT see that coming, but go her.
