I'm actually really excited but I love all of M. Night Shyamalan's movies...though some are very flawed. I think like most of his movies there won't be much middle ground. I love Bryce Dallas Howard and think she's a hell of an actress so I'm all for seeing her on screen again and Jefferey Wright is in it so heres to having good acting.
This may be a renter - especially with Clerks 2 and My Super Ex-Girlfriend coming out this weekend. The Village was so bad, that my once high opinion of Shaymalan has REALLY gone downhill -- he can only rest on Sixth Sense (most obvious plot twist in movie history - there, I said it) and Unbreakable (which I thought was by far his best movie) for so long.

LADY IN THE WATER just sounds like abolute sh*t.
And this is coming from someone who LOVED The Village (But, coincidentally, hated SIGNS). Shyamalan has always been pretty hit-and-miss (I agree with you, jason), but LITW is just giving me hives.
I remember a similar reaction to THE VILLAGE, and that is my favorite film by him. I love all his films, including WIDE AWAKE. I'll be there on Friday, to see it.

I really enjoy watching Paul Giamatti and when the FIRST preview came out (a teaser that really just showed him as a writer and hearing splashes in the pool) I thought - wow.. this could be cool.. a fantasy type movie - maybe M. Night is trying something new. The the full trailer came out and I had to groan. I went from definitely wanting to see it to maybe renting it. But that's just me

I mean the main character is a "narf". A NARF! You know a movie's creative well has run dry when it has been reduced to lifting sayings from PINKY AND THE BRAIN.

I love "Pinky and the Brain"!
It's Pinky, yes Pinky and the Brain, brain, brain, brain, brain...
Oh The Village was so bad.

Giamatti was on Regis and Kelly yesterday and he said Lady was being classified as a bedtime story. The clips they showed looked rather good. I don't think Knight will ever top the Sixth Sense - and people need to stop holding that up as his guiding light against the rest of his work.

Meh Sixth Sense was a mediocre film that would have been much better without the opening scene.

I loved The Village and I'm also really excited about this movie.

Mediocre or not - it has been his best work. That was the point of the statement.

I disagree. I feel that his best work is a tie between The Village and Unbreakable.
I saw an advance screening of this movie this past Monday night. What a waste of time. The majority of the sold out audience laughed throughout the entire movie as if it was a comedy instead of a thriller. Not scary or suspenseful at all. Don't waste your time or money!

Does it at least have a big twist at the end?
This one looks like Shyamalan does the now over done Japanese water ghost film. I hope I'm wrong about that because I love good horror movies and love to be scared by movies. Unfortunately, in recent years, the scriest thing I've seen in a horror movie was Paris Hilton's acting ability.
I will never see a movie that this man makes. As much as I love Paul Giamatti (and that's a lot) I will still never see this movie.
No big twist. It's very predictable right from the start.
I will say Paul Giamatti's performance was great, as always and Bryce Dallas Howard's performance was terrible. She was much better in The Village.
I thought The Village was a load of crap. I hope I like this movie better. I would have to say that my only favorite movie of his so far is Signs.
Is anyone else getting annoyed that every other commercial is for this movie?
I get it. Enough already!

It's better than the Little Man commercials...

Not interested in this one.
Shyamalan has been such a mixed bag with me. The Sixth Sense and Signs were brilliant. Unbreakable was a fine thriller, with some neat surprises. The Village, however, was his most disappointing. It had its moments, as well as a stunning performance by Bryce Dallas Howard, but I didn't buy the twist, and I didn't feel the movie had earned it.
