Rumor has it that Seth Meyers will be filling Regis chair permanently. He's going to be on all next week which according to reports is "Sweeps". Thoughts?
I heard Michael Strahan was close in the lead for that, too.

The whispers I've heard, actual whispers not articles is that what sealed the deal was that he'd be able to still do "Weekend Update" but will have to resign as head writer and he agreed.
If true Seth needs to train Kelly to be more like Amy Poehler. I expect to see segments like, "Really?! With Seth and Kelly" and part of the deal is if Seth comes to the show he has to bring Stefon with him. (it's a package deal) Will Seth have to quit SNL? If so I like the sound of Weekend Update with Regis Philbin.
The world certainly doesn't need a daily SNL.

I don't think Meyers writes or created Stefon, so I don't see how he'd be portable.
Seth Meyers is fine, though. Fine as hell.
Kristen, Andy, Seth can move on from SNL, and good luck to them.
But Bill Hader has to stay.

Hader's one-two punch of Stefon and James Carville make him indispensible.
I am certain John Mulaney writes for Stefon or is one of the writers for him as Hader reads his lines live hence that he cannot help but break.
I am not sure about Hader's status since he is on Mindy Kaling's new show but Sudekis is on stand-by during election season for his Romney impression though I think he is leaving regardless of the results.
I am apathetic about Seth as head writer but I always felt he needs a partner on Weekend Update.
Yeah apparently Mulaney is completely in charge of Stefon.
As head writer, Seth is supposedly in charge of all the sketches except for Weekend Update, so dropping him except for those ten minutes seems like a win-win for everyone.

Remember he is one of three possibilities. The other two are Josh Groban and Michael Strahan. I would prefer Groban over Meyers but whatever.
Groban was out of the running a while ago. He hasn't hosted in a long time. I liked Jerry Oconnell but I don't think he's up for the move. He's from LA I believe.
They need someone good to play off of Kelly. I know there won't be someone exactly like Regis, but I feel at least Josh Groban could become boring. He is nice, and good temporarily, but that's about it. Don't know about anyone else. I used to watch the show all the time.
Oh, Meyers? I was hoping for Seth Rudetsky.

I am the biggest (and possibly only) Josh Groban fan I know. And even I don't want him taking the spot.
I saw Groban co host a few weeks ago (maybe in a re-run). Honestly, I thought he came off looking like a bit of a tool.

I really don't know why she needs a regular cohost. Unless Disney/ABC, under contract, requires it. The show should just have rotating hosts. It is probally cheaper and would keep the show "fresh". The show needs all the help it can get. I attended a taping in June and it was really boring.

I DVR it everyday, and usually enjoy it. I like the rotating co-hosts much better.
And I can't stand the new set. I think the show lost a lot of intimacy, putting in a balcony. Kelly and Co-host du jour seem to have to crank their necks to see the folks sitting up there. They could've revamped, without going to the extreme they did.

They are conducting a Coast to Coast Co-host Search right now.

Seth shoots down the rumor

Although he must have liked the attention because he waited a few days before even commenting about it.
Phyllis posted it yesterday.
I think the coast to coast host is not for a permanent gig -- it's a host-for-the-day type thing. I'm sure it will be fun for whoever wins.
