Lucky you! I'm stuck in here till Friday. I thought it might be Saturday, so I guess I should be grateful for that. Although it's not like I have any wild New Year's plans except trying to sleep and trying not to vomit.

Phyllis, "Try not to vomit" is pretty much the perfect New Year's Resolution, actually.

Namo, in my overly verbose way, that was what i was trying to communicate ( about the protection thing -I b'leive the term is a vector of infection) Pax that type of mask is actually called duckbilled! ( always made me think of platypii) Which mask is used is determined by a "fit test" where you wear a mask, they stick a hazmat helmet over you and puff in the most noxious fume manufactured by science. If you can't taste it -that mask fits! and if u do taste it u feel SOOO sick. Heigh whoa for the glamourous life eh?
A deficiency of silly string would not be considered a reason to transfer but a CLOWN CONSULT from the Sloan Kettering service might be able to increase your balloon count!

Phyllis- I hate throwning up too but I 've had a lot ot pts say they love it cos they feel so much better after. I guess it depends on what you throw up. I highly recommend sips of gingerale as a preventative measure and I think there are OTC ginger caps u can get too. Oh and fresh ginger tea1 so warm in the tummy!

Chemo garb! Ah yes so svelte and fashionable, I always worn my pts that when i come to do the push chemo I will look like the Creature from the Black Lagoon, w my snazzy bright blue long sleeve velcro in the back/ ties in the front disposable Operating room gown, and the blue nitrile gloves and the piece da resistance clear plastic safety goggles giving me a distinctly fisheyed look. i'm surprised people don't hallucinate about these visons of loveliness!
This is to protect the staff, cos YOU are getting this ONE chemo at this ONE time but we are giving (sometimes) DOZENS of chemos one after another and the risk of exposure even a minute amount over a whole career weel lets just say nobody wants to think about a cohort of RNs coming up w cancer so the slight overthetop ness of the chemo garb . OOO some places make the nurses wear masks too now thats a nightmare!

Back to the main point - feel beddah, get home and PLAN about a Healthy Happy New Year!!

Your verbosity is very soothing, sabrelady.

I do find ginger ale soothing, although lately it;s been mostly sprite. The hard or crystallized ginger I've tired didn't really do much for me and just made my mouth taste funnier. I'm looking forward to slowly going back to human non-hospital food next week. If it's anything the last round it will toast for two days, then two days of basic beef and potato stuff with lots of pepper. Then three days of eating cream cheese straight out of the packet. Then a day or so of egg noodles, sometimes mixed with the stew.

I've been watching food network all night long and while I have virtually no appetite, I want to go there and eat everything I've seen tonight.

Sabrelady, I appreciate you're irreverent medical knowledge.

Did Pax get sprung, that little brat? Just kidding, darling. I hope you're home safe and sound, surrounding the people and zillion animals that love you. :)

As always thanks for the words of kindness, the words serious and especially the words ridiculous. It really does mean a lot.

with drug induced but no less sincere love,

Mrs. Phyllis Stone (nee' Rogers)

i got sprung lol

at first i thought the cat missed me, because he stared at me for about 10 minutes purring, but then got rather offended when he realized i wasn't going to get up and do anything and left. i think he was just hungry.

damn blizzard made it impossible to go out and see the rabbits tho.

LOL addy all i can think of is my favorite stephen king creation "kingdom hospital" when you say that...
"may flights of angels sing the to thy rest... you old grumpykins."
