Good thoughts to two of my friends who had surgery/surgical procedures this week!

Hope both of you are healing comfortably and that the results are great!


Am also asking for good thoughts tomorrow morning as my nephew undergoes extensive surgery. He's my angel, and he has been such an unbelievable trooper during all of the challenges he has faced... Please throw good thoughts/prayers/karma out there for him. Bless his heart.

Life is too, too short. A good friend of mine lost his boyfriend last Sunday. They had an argument in a club, his boyfriend left him in the club, got in his car and rear ended another vehicle on the highway. Both cars spun around, his hit the median. While responders were approaching he "freaked", climbed out the car window and ran into oncoming traffic and got hit, not by one but 3 vehicles. He's gone.

Let's be nicer and kinder to each other. Let us not be so judgmental of one another. Let's embrace our differences and appreciate each other.

I wish everyone on this board a Blessed Holiday and A Healthy Prosperous New Year filled with Happiness, Love and Joy!!!

if anyone could spare a good vibe or thought, i'd really appreciate it. i've been in the ER since 11 am and finally just got up to a room. i have the flu and a touch of bronchitis. it's weird. the nurses can't come in unless they're wearing a plastic smock and mask and gloves... it's freaking me out a little.

Oh, Abba, I read this last night and felt so bad for you. Are you still in the hospital or did you get to go home? At any rate, I hope you managed to enjoy Christmas.

I am steeling myself for my return to the hospital on Monday. I'm not looking forward to it, but at least it's the beginning of the end of the second round of chemo. New Year's Eve is gonna suck this year (I'll most likely be discharged Friday as opposed to Saturday, so I guess I should be grateful for that), but hopefully next year's will be better.

And thanks Carlos, Elphaba, et al. Your kind thoughts are appreciated.

i'm still in the hospital. they're giving me iv fluids, nausea meds, pain meds, tylonal when i get a fever, and tamiflu, plus breathing treatments that are saline and oxygen vaporized through a mask.
my mom and dad brought my presents up to me, and when i'm able to go home, i'll give everyone their presents.
sucky part is tho that both flu swabs tested positive, so i can't leave my room or have any visiters except my parents, since they were already exposed to the flu while they were in the ER with me. technically this isn't my first christmas in the hospital, since i was born on dec 23rd, so 25 years ago exactly, i was at this same hospital.

Feel Beddah soon Pax! Don't worry about the isolation paraphenalia, It's just cos this is considered airborne& there for contagious, not so much to the nursing staff, but to other patients who might be immuno-compromised that they would look after after taking care of you. As I've said Infectious Disease doc LOOOOVE the N95's and the hand wipes and the Virox and FLAVEN!! Push da fluids!

i think they make people look like ducks. (i couldn't tie it on for full effect without making the IV in my arm go off from bending my elbow)

If it's any consolation, when the nurses comes into change the bags of poison dripping into my body they wear gloves and masks and some kind of protective body smock. It really unnerved my mother.

that always made me cringe when my grandma was getting chemo.... especially the ones that were light-sensitive and had to be covered with a black bag... they were very sinister looking!

I don't know nothin but maybe they suit up to protect the chemo patients with the depressed immune systems?

I think Phyllis and Abba should come up with a theme for their current/upcoming hospital stays. How about British Week? Don't talk about being in "the hospital" but rather "hospital". Say things like, "Thank god for the National Health, eh?" Tell them your nicknames are Twiggy, or Mick. Plus more!

Dibs on Twiggy. Or an even more weirdly British name like... Tamsen. It would be most awesome if abba and I were in the hospital. We could really terrorize that joint, playing Good Patient/Bad Patient.

When I had chemo last year, my beloved Nurse Blanca (who I miss) used to call the brown bag she put over the chemo bag its dress.

Your reason sounds about right namo. At this point none of it phases me, but I think it kind of crystallized for my mom that they were injecting poison into her son.

It's just an odd sounding name to me. I never heard it before I watched Coupling when that was on (BBC Version). I wish I had an odd name. My parents joked when my mom was pregnant with me that if I was a boy they were going to name Enoch Ulysses. Could you imagine? I don't if I'll ever forgive them for not doing it.

i'm waiting for the nurse to come take the IV out of my arm, and then i'm out of here. not contagious anymore, either, so if you want, you can all come over and we can have a nyquil party.

i dont think anything makes me feel dumber than trying to eat/write/brush my teeth/basically do anything with my left hand LOL
