This week really hit home for me how much I wish each episode was even just ten minutes longer. So much happened in such a short amount of time that it felt so half-baked. How much time is supposed to have passed between the pilot and now? Agustin just moved in and now he's moving out? And that kiss in the bathroom was ridiculous. Granted, Kevin never misses a chance to tell Patrick all the things that annoy him about his boyfriend and the whole season has sort of been building up to that kiss in spite of Richie, but when it finally happened it felt too careless to me. If that's where they're going to go with this then that scene needed something more.
Loved last night's episode. To me the show is getting stronger. That end scene with Patrick and his father coupled with the music was great. Next weeks season finale should be good.
Slightly OT, but if anyone wants to see Raul Castillo, he's doing a play for a few weeks in NYC. I'll probably go check it out:

"Jose represents the emergence of the contemporary Latino voice in the American theatre, a movement which has reached many artists and audiences regardless of personal background."
The voice that mumbles in a phony lower register?
Duffy was perfect casting. I dunno, the Kevin kiss felt pretty note perfect to me--in an awful way. If it had happened even an episode or two back I would have probably welcomed it rather than cringed.
I laughed when I saw Scott Evans (Chris Evans' gay brother who played gay on One Life to Live.) He's been tweeting about his appearance, but although he got a major credit line in the end credits, he was literally on screen for ten seconds and said nothing.

Never see Richie again, Patrick. If he must come back next season, let it be as an ex-pot addict born again Christian who kidnaps Patrick to perform an exorcism on him. Then Patrick can kill him. All in the episode "Looking at a Corpse."

The more I see of the show (I just caught up with the most recent episode last night) the more convinced I am that the half hour format was a bad bad idea. Each episode feels incomplete somehow -- the feeling I got at the end of last night's episode, that things were finally getting going, would have been very exciting at the end of the third episode of an hour long drama series, but it feels disappointing in the penultimate episode of a first season.
Roscoe, I agree with you.
Michael Lannan was interviewed for CBC radio's daily interview show, Q, speaking largely about complaints against the show. http://www.cbc.ca/q/blog/2014/03/03/hbo-looking-creator-michael-lannan/ (Apparently Kids was an inspiration... hmmm)
I was kinda surprised about the Scott Evans thing...and the set up about is friendship with Patrick as kids. I assumed there would be at least ONE line muttered between the two. Is it possible that he's going to come back? If not, the set up was kind of pointless.
Other than that, I thought the episode was terrific and the kiss was truly, terribly awkward. What was the recording at the end? I'm assuming one of the various gay men's choruses?
Zebedy has a pretty fascinating story (though I can't make the links to his album play) NSFW btw: http://www.queermusicheritage.us/sep2004zc.html
Son of Robbie--maybe he will be back? it seemed random otherwise. Scott Evans got a full screen credit which I always thought meant you had to at least have lines, so maybe something was cut?

Another very strong ep. I loved the exchange between Patrick and his mother. He got to tell her what he's kept bottled up for so long and she, very rightly, got to tell him that despite her shortfalls as a mother, it was up to him to make the right choices now. The pot rice krispie treat was a nice touch, too. For what it's worth, I like the 30 min length and I don't feel the need to get a full hour out of this show. In fact, I think it might drag a bit at 60 mins.
Kind of surprised they don't list the music selections on the end credits. Thanks for the tip on Zebedy, Eric. Does anyone know what song was used during the wedding dance? It was before "Love Shack". Sounded 60s soul/blues'ish. Etta James'esque, but I don't think it was Etta.
Oh, and I'm still 100% on team Patrick/Richie.
I'm not really on team Patrick/anyone. It seems pretty obvious that a relationship between Patrick and Richie will be pretty forced, regardless of how long it lasts.
