That was a great episode.

Sad ending.

The Michael twist would have been better if ABC hadn't been basically telling us that it would be happening.

The tombstone said that Jin died on September 22, 2004-the day the plane crashed.

As far as I see it that leaves two options:

1. Jin died on the island/during the rescue.
2. Jin is still on the island and forced Sun to get into a helicopter.

Either way I look at it, Jin never left the island. Can anybody else see any other explanation?

I thought we were supposed to find out who the Six were. Does this mean Aaron IS one? Jack, Hurley, Kate, Sayid, Sun and...Aaron? I had a feeling the whole episode we were seeing a flashback of Jin.

I'm guessing he's still alive on the island...

Could Jin's have been a flashforward? Meaning he's still alive....

Not sure it would make sense though. Updated On: 3/13/08 at 10:25 PM

oh, the tombstone listend his death as the day the plane crashed? Hmm, then he's probably still on the Island.

So I'm a little confused. I thought we were supposed to find out who the Oceanic 6 were tonight? But we still only have 5 don't we?? Hurley, jack, Kate, Sayid and Sun. Are they counting Aaron?

Hmmm....I took it as Jin was still alive but affected by the time issues of the island. Plus....Ben is off the island...I doubt he left with the "rescue team". Perhaps Jin came off the island with a different group of people.

Or is Jin's "death" part of the whole rescue story? Maybe he came off the island but was affected by leaving....and so in effect he's "dead" to Sun. So he's alive, but not the same Jin we knew before.

Jin's was clearly a flashback. Note the clunky cell phone, the posturing for Sun's father-in-law, and the year of the dragon (2000).

In my book, he totally dies on the island before getting rescued. Hurley's wording ("Let's go see him") and Sun speaking to her husband's grave just screamed that he was dead.

I think we're supposed to be counting Aaron as one of the Oceanic 6. Didn't the promos say a couple of weeks ago that we'd find out a member and it was the episode that revealed Aaron?

Anyone catch the quick glimpse of Nikki on Sun's television? I thought that was cool. (Sort of like when Sayid was on a televison in the background of one of Kate's flashbacks when she went to an army recruitment centre)

When the captain was talking about staging the crash, was he saying that Wildmore or Ben staged it?

Tag, he was saying that Ben staged it because after he said that they had found all 300 or so bodies on the plane at the bottom of the ocean, he said that there was only one person who would be capable of rounding up that many dead bodies. and then he said "that is exactly why we are trying to find Benjamin Linus." So definitely Ben.

As far as Aaron being one of the Oceanic Six...I don't think that is right. He wasn't technically on the manifest since he was still in Claires stomach...so therefore he couldnt be counted as being on that flight. It's all about the manifest. I do, however think that it's interesting how Jin could possibly still be alive. I do think it is a possibility.

It was an okay episode with some amazing moments but it eventually had very muddled story-telling. Perhaps I would have enjoyed it better if everywhere on the web people hadn't said how by the end of this episode we'd find out who the Oceanic Six are. Does that mean that Aaron is one of them (meaning we'd be led to believe Jin was number six but when we find out he's dead, we're aware that someone we had seen in another episode was in fact the sixth one)? I was also thinking that it could be Michael, but then wouldn't Walt count too? Or what if Walt is the only one that eventually makes it back home since Michael isn't going by Michael anymore?
Jin's storyline was definitely a flashback: they made him looked younger, it was the year of the dragon, he said he had only been married for 2 months, and most important of all, nobody knew him whereas the second Sun comes into the hospital the nurse knows she is Oceanic Six.
I didn't notice the glimpse of Nikki in Expose until I read online that it was there. One of those neat LOST connections.
I was ultimately disatisfied by the episode, mostly because I think it's a huge let-down if Aaron is considered Oceanic Six.

I did catch the Nikki thing - it was FAST, but I saw it. I was convinced from early in the episode we were seeing a Jin flashback while we were seeing a Sun flashforward, so I was paying a little closer attention to the way Sun talked about Jin (kind of how I never needed to watch Sixth Sense a second time because I had it figured out in the first five minutes - not that I always do that: Usual Suspects and Fight Club totally blindsided me). She asked for him repeatedly during the birth -- but we never got that "oh, he's really dead" moment. Even her scene at the grave was a little odd. Saying she misses him etc. - we have nothing other than the tombstone with the date of the CRASH on it to make us think he's dead. We already know the back story (from Kate's trial) that the Six had to say everyone else died. If they're playing that up, remember, Sun's family is rich. They WOULD put an empty grave up for him. The hints we've been getting all along are that they can't ever go back to the island for some reason -- so it's LIKE he's dead, but I'm betting now there will be a very touching reunion scene somewhere down the line between Sun and Jin (besides which, if there isn't, their storyline is pretty much done).

I'm still confused, though, about the six. If we know who they all are, then Aaron has to be one, but that's kind of lame. I was hoping when Hurley showed up at Sun's that they were going to some Oceanic Six event and we'd finally see who they all are!

I missed the clip of Nikki. What was the context of the clip, not when it was shown.

Thanks!

I'm not so sure if Jin is still alive and I also dont think he is considered one of the Oceanic 6. His tombstone had the date of the crash on it but I think he could have been dead when the Six got rescued, and they could have transported his dead body back for a proper burial.
They do refer to the "Oceanic Six" as the "survivors" of the Oceanic flight...and since Jin's tombstone indicated that he died the day of the crash, he wouldnt be considered as one of the surviving Oceanic 6..
I agree that it will be a huge let down if Aaron is one them, which is why I dont think it is, especially since he wasnt listed on the manifest since he wasnt born yet. I think it could be Walt as well. Overall, I think they will end up surprising us with the last of the six and it will be someone we wont expect.

Just remember, this IS Lost. They LOVE to pull the rug out from under us. They set it up to make it look like Jin was having a flash forward, and then switched it on us. They set it up to look like he's dead - but NOTHING was a solid confirmation of that. A tombstone (and was it me or did it look freshly dug?) with a date of the crash on it might make some think he's dead, but I'd be willing to wager that's the writers messing with us - he's alive on the island still and part of the coverstory of the Oceanic Six was that he died- though it might not be another two seasons before we get that reveal.

So, what was Hurley's, "Good" in response to Sun saying that no one else had come?

I am assuming that they didn't recover the bodies of the dead from the Oceanic flight. If they did, someone would have checked dental records on the planted bodies and realized that the staged crash is not the genuine article.

It'd have been a lot more exciting had Hurley and Sun met up with another member of the Oceanic Six. I remember when the WGA strike was going on, the producers said that it had been decided Episode 7 would be the last one to air even though 8 episodes were in the can by the time the strike started. The reasoning was that Episode 7 had more of a "season finale" cliffhanger at the end. I don't see it. Oh well. Next week it's all about Kevin Johnson! Wonder what his story is.

I *thought* I saw Nikki's tv show on the television but havn't gone back to watch it yet, thanks for clearing i up.

Tom1071 - if you comment was not sarcastic, then we are n the same page with Juliet. I love her character.

Not sure about the Oceanic 6 or if Aaron counts but I wouldn't think he would. On Lostpedia.com they still have one blank space missing for the 6th person so maybe we will find out more next week.

I wanted to throw something at the TV when Michael appeared. I knew it was him from his voice, even before they showed him. Ana Lucia wasn't on of my favorite characters but I did want to learn more about Libby so Michael sucks in my book, though I have heard we have no heard the last of Libby.

Hope we get more info next week.

Juliette used to really bother me, but she's definitely growing on me.

Yeah, I think we still have yet to see who the last person of the Oceanic 6 were. Michaels apperence would have been ten times better if they hadn't given it away at the beginning of the season. I'm still wondering who is in the coffin. I'm leaning towards Juliette, but that may be too predictable.

I'm still sure that it was Michael in the coffin, good news is, we will find out in the season finale (which will be a Jack-centric episode).
Cynthia Watros (Libby) is gonna be in next week's episode I believe. If not, then in one of the episodes following the strike, I do know she is scheduled to appear in the show sometime soon in one of the flashbacks/flashforwards. Her death is probably the only death in the show so far that has actually bothered me a lot. There was no reason for her character to die, we knew SO little about her, she was so likable, her relationship with Hurley was the sweetest in the history of the show, and she deserved her own flashback (I'm still pissed we didn't learn how she ended up in the same hospital Hurley did). I'm glad that we'll get to see more of her.
Michael is my least favorite character in the show along with Charlie and Boone (both gone, thank God). Yet, I think it's pretty interesting that he is the spy, wonder what we'll learn next week.
I think the Oceanic Six are Jack, Kate, Hurley, Sayid, Aaron, and Sun.

So I didn't get to watch it on Thursday, but I kept hearing how amazing this episode was and all...except my stupid sister told me in advance that we don't find out who all of the oceanic six are (she must have asssumed aaron wasn't one), so as soon as the episode started, I knew Jin wasn't one of them. Ulgh. No fun to have that given away.

Though my roommate was saying just wait till I see the person on the boat, so I was like ohh, so it's not Michael? Heh, he kind of reversed spoiled that. Oh well.

But yeah, I don't know if it's because some things were given away, but I wouldn't consider this the best episode of the season, I still think that honor belongs to "Constant." I actually ended up being slightly disappointed, since everyone was telling me it was such a great episode. Again, probably the give-away. Boo.

But I figured all along that Sung would be one of the 6. And that scene with Jin was so sweet -- but people on the island usually die when they have completely made amends, changed, made up for their past transgressions -- and Jin was one of the people showed in the "someone will die" preview. I just have a feeling, knowing Lost...I think I hope I'm wrong.
