I saw it at the Forum. It was a mixed bag. She is in great voice. But it is a disjointed show. She needs to get rid of the dancers and just perform with her band. It was also a tad on the long side. The audience dashed to the exits at the first sign that the show might be over. I pretty much agree with this review from a few nights before.

I'm not a huge Lady Gaga fan, so not sure how much I'll actually enjoy it, but I'm excited to see the staging. And wish there were some opening acts at least.

I adore her music, but don't like seeing her live. Just seems like she was always trying too hard to win our approval. Umm, we're all on board already?!

I love Gaga, but I hate stadium concerts. I decided to sit this one out. I have watched a lot of online videos and it looks like a decent show. However, she did her first stadium version of the tour last night and the staging is very different. She gets lost in it. She also cut several songs like Bloody Mary and Dancing in Circles, which would be very disappointing. Some are reporting that is due to noise curfews or whatever, but just another reason to avoid stadium shows.

I don't understand why they'd choose to do a stadium when there are much better venues here in NYC. It's a pain in the ass to get to. We saw Beyoncé last year at MetLife and we were 2 hours late due to horrible traffic, and then we finally got there and I felt so removed from the show because we were so far away. And the show didn't warrant a huge space. It was quite small.

I felt the same way when Madonna did her MDNA tour at Yankee Stadium. Unless you were on the field, you were so far removed. For the Joanne tour, the smaller closed venues allow her to use bridges that descend and platforms that allow great views from any area. The stadium doesn't allow for that. I think I'd be very disappointed in the staging for the stadium.

RippedMan... I completely agree with you. I am dreading the journey to/from this venue. Luckily I am going alone so no one will be complaining nor will they hear me complaining.

I'm reluctantly going - and I hated this new album - but my friend is driving, so hopefully it will be any easy going experience. I'm going on the 28th as well!
I just don't understand what the stadium gets you? It's a terrible layout for a show. Is it more seats? Is that why? Just more $$? Stupid.

Doing stadium shows cuts costs for artists-- what you can do in a stadium show is approximately 2 nights in an arena.
Also going back to Beyonce last year....it was a MASSIVE tour and staging, not quite small at all as you preciously stated.

What was so massive about it? It was a giant rotating box on a simple stage, with a catwalk? There was one moment where the side of the box opened, to reveal a 6ft opening where she was suspended upside down and moved around, but again, from the balcony, it was like a little dot moving around. To me, it didn't justify where it was. And then Jay-Z comes out, which is awesome, sitting in basically a dining room chair. Like they couldn't make it this big massive throne to match the space? And then she had a moment where she literally just sat down on a bare stage and sang. Which is great, in a tiny, intimate venue, but again, the whole thing felt dwarfed by the space.

The rotating box and simple stage actually is one of the most complicated and massive stages every designed, including the part which brings up 2000 gallons of water. Also- she did 3 NYC stadium nights on that tour, all sold out. That would equal about 6-7 nights in Brooklyn of MSG (at least) - it's much more economical for artists, tours, and promoters to take up less nights in a bigger space than much more time in smaller spaces.

Oh I'm not saying it's not a good move on the artists part! Just annoying for us. I mean I think a week residency at MSG would be kinda awesome. But I get it. I just felt like I could have watched the tour DVD and gotten the same experience.

Understandable - but thats why whenever I go to one of those shows I won't sit any higher than the first level, it's usually fine then.

I saw opening night in Vancouver, it was wonderful! Definitely her most technically advanced show to date. I have never seen a stage do the things it does, and the way she uses the entire arena is genius. Avoid the stadium dates, see this show in an arena! Her voice is magnificent, the Joanne album sounds amazing live.

Sadly she chose crappy Citifield for NYC. No clue why, so we will trek out to Queens. Why people think baseball fields make for good concerts....

Saw this tonight, and was a little underwhelmed. I'd have much rather seen this is an arena. I just don't think it rose to the space. The stage, while technically amazing, just rose up and down and tilted. But I never felt like it was used to make any pretty stage pictures, any. It could have been much cooler. And she had a tiny little runway and area where she played an acoustic song and played piano. But, having read about the arena shows, was really looking forward to the pods descending from the ceiling, which we didn't get. And we got a truncated setlist. She sounded great, but I just didn't enjoy the venue. She didn't even get on stage until 10:15. And her opening act was some DJ no one has heard of. Lame.

That DJ has produced about half of her discography. I do agree with your comments about tonight though.

This is the 7th time I have seen her perform: (The Monster Ball 2x, ArtRave 2x, Roseland Ballroom closing night, Cheek to Cheek Tour and this Joanne World Tour). By far this was the most underwhelming and lackluster produced of all her shows.
Starting on a Monday night at 10:15pm was fu@king obnoxious. I was in the 7th row from the stage on the field but one section to the left in the non-VIP seats. I spent 2+ hours watching them cycle all of the VIPs backstage to get their picture with her in cattle classes of 20+ at a time. We waited for the generation of money via the VIPs...that's what held up the concert! THEN when the VIPs finally got into their seats they were mostly drunk and obnoxious. She could easily spend a day just doing meet and greet WITHOUT performing and rake in the cash!
As for the stage - yes it was not "all that". I enjoyed the fact that being outdoors they were able to use pyrotechnic effects. Her previous arena tours were absolutely brilliant and amazing. I think as her level of fame has increased she has unfortunately become more watered down and less creative to be able to sell more tickets in larger venues to accommodate the masses.
I enjoyed the concert but not getting out at midnight, spending 30 minutes to locate my car ride home etc...

Yeah, I'm not a huge concert goer, but in the past years I've become one, and I'm realizing that the MSG/Barclays shows are all just much more my style. I mean, EVERY line was a 40min wait for drinks or food. Then the whole thing didn't even start until 10:15?! That's insane. And then they cut the setlist short, for some reason, even though she started so freaking late? And to add to that, we paid the same amount of money as the arena shows did and we got half the show?

I found the set list online and at least the one I read she followed to the song. What I did notice was that she clipped songs short! Instead of singing the entire song she sang abbreviated versions of each.
I bought a soda when the count down was at 2 minutes to start. I was able to walk right up because the freaks were running like roaches after a can of spray was let off!
All in all I found the fans attending to be some of the most vile individuals I've ever been around at any of her concerts.

We got there SO early, so it was a lot of waiting around. And from our seats - there was big vast empty nothingness where the pitcher's mound is, and then seating began and then the stage. So it made for a very distancing experience.
