The "Gypsy" duet with Kermit the frog was embarrassing from start to finish. Otherwise, I thought it was fun, though I think Gaga needs to loosen up or something. Her little blooper with Pepe the Prawn was so refreshing, just a genuine reaction. In all the years of Gaga, have we ever seen her laugh?
On a related note, she did Gypsy on Howard Stern's show a few weeks ago, just her on a piano, and it's one of the most beautiful things she's ever done.

In performance? Not that I can remember. In any other context, many times.

"In all the years of Gaga, have we ever seen her laugh? "
This. Whenever she performs, I see someone working VERY hard, but I never see someone genuinely having fun. It's part of the reason that I just cannot seem to connect with her as a performer.

Posted: 12/1/13 at 10:26amI appreciate the concept but the execution left a lot to be desired. I thought she looked cheap.

Posted: 12/1/13 at 3:15pmI didn't care for it at all. As others have said it was really nothing more than an advertisement for her new CD. I lost count of how many times it was mentioned.. I liked the non-Gaga moments better - "Santa Baby" especially. I found "Baby, It's Cold Outside" to be cringe worthy and I don't think the sound seemed right. I would have much preferred something akin to the classic Muppet specials.

It was on at 9:30. It was also rated PG-13 or whatever the TV equivalent is. And it's not like the original Muppet Show was as kid friendly as many now seem to think.

I thought it was... OK. I didn't find Baby, it's Cold Outside all that bad, and liked that Gaga sang the more aggressive "male" part. My main complaint was that too many of the Gaga performances seemed utterly disconnected from The Muppets--I would have liked some of the songs done in the surreal way many performers' songs were done on the old show.

The Muppets, like Looney Toons, were meant to be "family programming". Aimed at the kids but had some more adult humor slipped in for the parents. The kids would be distracted by the zaniness and miss the adult stuff.
For me the special lacked that even mix. The emphasis was on more of the adult stuff with the zaniness sadly lacking. There was a little but not nearly enough IMO
