Ugh, I'm totally turned off now.
Lance's quote from mtvnews:
"I want people to take away from this that being gay is a norm," Bass said. "That the stereotypes are out the window ... I've met so many people like me that it's really encouraged me. I call them the SAGs — the straight-acting gays. We're just normal, typical guys. I love to watch football and drink beer."
Sigh. "SAGs"? I guess he doesn't wanna anyone to think he's like "those" gay people. I can't stand when some gay people feel the need to distance themselves from the more "flamboyant" gays as if there's something wrong with that.
And Lance? Nobody believes you're "straight acting" anyway. And football and beer? Yeah right. STFU, dear.

It means: to each his/her own.
He can feel the way he wants to feel.

He can feel however he wants, but it's still a rather idiotic statement.

See, I don't think it means "to each his/her own." Most people who beieve that way don't worry about whether or not they're "straight acting," as though acting straight is more acceptable than not acting straight.
I'm sure it wasn't his intention, but his saying "we're just typical, normal guys" implies that those non-SAGs (Fags, to make the obvious leap) are neither typical nor normal. Why? Because they don't drink beer and watch football?

The most rabid, beer-drinking football fans I've ever known were a group of queens in Denver who worshiped the Broncos. And these men would NEVER 'pass' under any circumstances.
I love that word, 'pass'. It's like the mulatoes who passed themselves off as white. I'm not sure anyone who isn't on the oppressed side can truly understand what lengths one goes to to appear 'normal'.
Normal - there's another word I love. Based on what standard?
Not mine, of that I'm certain.

I'm going to paraphrase a friend of mine as the sentiment is appropriate here.
"FAGGOT! BE PROUD!"
You are who you are. If you're nelly, be ok with it. If you really ARE a football-watching, beer-drinking, belching and farting guy, be ok with that, too.
But do not dissemble.

Hmmmm... straight acting?
I'm straight. I didn't know that there was one single way I should act to be straight.
Maybe I should start a thread. Because goodness knows I wouldn't want to act the 'wrong' way. Being straight, and all.
Maybe you all could critique and comment on it.

I'll comment on whatever the hell I feel like commenting on.
And, like Kringas said, "letting people behave the way they want to behave" allows the continuation of the BIG GAY APOLOGY, which is, "I'm gay, but I'm a straight-acting gay."
It's not about the way you act. It's about making apologies for what you are.
