Yeah, he's wild in Dreaming! I think he also played with the Ramones.
I noticed that Debbie makes some Bowie faces and movements on stage. All good

He also produced a band called The Colors, one of the lost new wave bands of the time. I LOVED the single he did for them. Back when pop rocked.

It was a private thing, I just read about it. I did find a "Dreaming" video shot by a fan at the Roundhouse in London this year, she sounded really fine. Clem is still a drumming beast.

Behind the Music
"The gods who nurse this universe think little of mortals' cares. They sit in crowds on exclusive clouds and laugh at our love affairs. I might have had a real romance if they'd given me a chance. I loved him, but he didn't love me. I wanted him, but he didn't want me. Then the gods had a spree and indulged in another whim. Now he loves me, but I don't love him." - Cole Porter

“I fancied all the classic blonde Hollywood stars. Marilyn Monroe, Jayne Mansfield … Did I really fancy them? Sure, there’s some bisexuality to that. …It’s definitely a part of a girl’s chemistry. We are all looking at each other in a sexual way. It’s about imitation, sure – ‘Oooh, she has nice hair or a nice ass’ – but there’s also desire. I am open-minded, as you know."

Blondie played here just a few weeks ago. Debbie's voice was stronger than ever. She sounded better than I've heard her in the past and she came here as one of the last stops on the tour.

in the summer of 1987 i was about to be a senior in high school and took a bus ride up to nyc to spend a weekend with my brother who was in columbia's masters program for playwriting. while i was here i ran into a friend from high school in central park. what a coinkidink, right? he invited me to a party that some of his sister's friends were having that night. she was an artist and party was down in alphabet city.
i made my way down that night and found myself surrounded by people way hipper, way punker, way cooler than i would ever be. but they were shockingly nice to this kid from the sticks. we were up on the roof smoking things, snorting things and popping anything we could find when there was a whistling and a pop. someone had launched a bottle rocket. then another and another. we were under attack from the building across the street!
fortunately, someone was prepared and we were soon fighting back with bottle rockets, roman candles, launching m-80s anything we could light and fling.
it was hilarious until i turned around and it felt like someone hit me in the face and and explosion...****! i fell to the ground clutching my face. people ran around me and helped me to a safe spot and someone was holding me and stroking my hair and telling me i was going to be fine. it was a soft voice, but somehow familiar.
she eased my hands away and laid a cool cloth over my eyes, ice in a washcloth. she kept telling me i was going to be fine and asked about where i was from and what i was doing. it felt like a long time but was probably two minutes or so. then she asked if i felt ok and i said yeah and she lifted the cloth. i opened my eyes and was staring into these amazing green eyes. her face came into focus and i immediately felt so very much worse. i was lying in debbie harry's lap.
i groaned and sunk back against her and stayed there for a good half an hour.
pat who?

I had a two year crush on Debbie when I was in High School. I have fond memories of catching her at Hurrah's. Anyone remember Hurrah's?
I like Pat Benatar, but she is in a different category completely.
I still love listening to the "Eat To the Beat" album in the car.

Never has a teenage kid been so lucky to almost get his face blown off.
Papa, your story fits perfectly with the ones about Debbie in Legs McNeil's oral history of punk, "Please Kill Me." You get the sense Debbie was the kindly den mother. Giving people rides home from the clubs in her convertible.

Does Debbie Harry even remember her Blondie career? She always seems so high in the video footage.

Yeah, I dunno, I'm sure she was doing some coke at times, but she usually doesn't look that high to me.

And can we not forget Desperately Seeking Susan the Musical with the songs of Blondie that played in the West End. The show flopped but was actually a lot of fun and way better than most jukebox musicals, the songs actually fitted and the book was really well done. Shame it didnt catch on.
The new song Harry wrote for it was stunning as well

Debbie just turned up on CNN with Anderson and Kathy. She announced a new Blondie album in March. Anderson fangurled out and Kathy made Deb sing "Hangin' On the Telephone" and then kind of drowned her out singing along.
I tell ya. Dick Clark was never this fun.
