Posted: 6/16/09 at 11:40pmI dunno. I'm clearly not a Palin fan and have enjoyed Letterman over the years, but his joke didn't sit well with me. I'd be pissed if he made that comment about my daughter, too. In fact, I'm cringing that he made it about anyone's daughter.

The joke was not in good taste, but it was funny and topical. And despite what the Palins (and every republican) would like you to think, it was about Bristol, not the 14 year old.
Not to mention she's a hypocrite. She went on SNL after they jokes about the palin incest.

Host Jokes About Flap With Palin, Unveils 'Top Ten Things Overheard At Fire Dave Rally'
NEW YORK (CBS)
While angry protesters called for CBS to fire longtime Late Show host David Letterman after his flap with Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, the comic brushed off the hate with a slew of jokes and a Top Ten List aimed at those calling for his head.
In fact, the very first thing he said to his audience was a rib for those rallying:
"Now when I call your name, please come forward and pick up your apology. I wanna get through this as quickly as possibly so you folks can get to the 'Fire Dave Rally.' It's nice that people hate me who are no longer just part of my immediate family. My son, he's telling everybody at school that his father is Conan!"

At one point it appeared as though Letterman might actually show live video of the protesters marching outside the Ed Sullivan Theater.
"The big news here today in New York City is the 'Fire Dave Protest Rally' and it's going on right now. You folks are missing the real show, I'm sorry. Do we have a camera out there? Let's check in on the Fire Dave Rally, it's at 54th and Broadway!" he said. Directors then cut to footage of various looting rallies from around the world, with a graphic reading "Midtown Paralyzed By Anti-Letterman Protest" underneath.
A writer for the Late Show with David Letterman carries a "Fire Letterman" sign onto the stage on June 16, 2009 as dozens of people gathered outside the studio demanding the host be fired.
In actuality, only about 50 protesters gathered outside the building, holding numerous signs including, "Fire The Pervert David Letterman."

Posted: 6/17/09 at 8:03amSo the rally had more cameras than protestors! Personally, I think every comedian on every show should tell this joke everyday/night for a week in solidarity of Dave! Let's see if she goes after Kathy Griffin- she was pretty direct on Larry King last night. Even Levi Johnston- who was on the phone with Larry- said he thought it was a joke and that Dave didn't mean anything bad! Kathy went on a great rant about the Palins that was far worse than Dave's joke!

Kathy is more fierce than Dave and Sarah knows better than to go up against Kathy.That is one fight I would LOVE to see because Kathy would play it up more than Palin. Kathy would say the things Dave is to much of a gentleman to say.Yeah, that would be one bitch fight worth seeing.....and Kathy would win!
That is pretty cool about Levi sticking up for Dave. Wish the media would report on that.I've been hearing that Dave and Conan have been friends for years and that Dave was going to be a guest on his show and Conan on Dave's sometime this fall.I think it will be nice to see two competing hosts being civil and making jokes with the other for a change.Jay really stabbed Dave in the back and the two have been bitter over it for years.
I still am hoping some stars come out in Dave's support and publicly blast Palin.Of course, Sarah will have to go on all the talk shows and issue a statement for each insult and the "liberal Media' will gladly bow down and cater to her and give her a soap box,like always.

romantico- THAT is a great clip! I guess I must have missed it the first time around. The "Rogue" video from The Daily show is priceless!
p.s. I just saw the clip of some of the protestors outside the Ed Sullivan theatre. They were calling Dave a molestor, a child abuser, a sex offender. They called his son a bastard and his wife a slut. Thank you Sarah Palin for starting all of this!

Levi Johnston is a moron. The worst speaker ever. He makes George Bush sound like John Gielgud!Anyway, he I think is the ONLY one who has not chimed in about all of this.(actually,have we heard from Bristol or Willow?)
