why would you click on a thread called little miss sunshine if you haven't seen little miss sunshine??

wouldn't a thread called little miss sunshine be all about little miss sunshine?? isn't the fact that there are likely to be spoilers sort of a given??

I certainly haven't clicked on any threads called little miss sunshine until I just finished the film 5 minutes ago.

on a related note, I don't click on a thread called desperate housewives until I have watched the recent episode of...guess what??...desperate housewives!

Namo, I think he was going for roux (not rube)... And I have to say, it kinda works...

I happened to see this movie for the first time last night, and found it charming. Loved what it said about dysfunctional families still being capable of pulling together for each other.

And the kid is that rarity among child actors. A normal kid.

Fiction Writer, that's rude. Paul Dano was considered one of the best teen actors of the year. Same for Abigail Breslin, except for kids.

I thought this was the best film of the year, it told such a simple story in such a simple way that it was impossible not to fall in love with it. The acting was impressive, the ensemble was the best ensemble acting I've seen in a long time (the SGA for Best Ensemble definitely belongs to this movie though The Departed will be a strong competition). I hope Abigail Breslin gets the recognition in the SGA's and the Oscars that the Golden Globes denied her.

I thought it was a fun little film, though not as funny as I thought it would be. The end was really enjoyable though. I liked it, but it didn't make it's way into my Top 5 list of favorite movies.

Found the scenes where Greg Kinnear is pursuing his dream of a motivational success program kinda cringing. Some dreams HAVE to die so better ones can take their place. Yes The moped was funny but not enough.
I wanted to like this more than I did like it but agree, Paul was
excellent esp b4 he spoke. ( found myself thinking of the Ellen Jamesians in Garp)

I watched the first half last night befvore I fell asleep (it was 2 in the morning)
It wasn't hilarious, but I still loved it

I love that little girl and that TUMMY...that tummy was enough to keep me going :0)

Toni Colette is a genius (watching her eat that popsicle makes me laugh EVERY time), and I do like Paul Dano and Steve Carrell. The movie was just quirky enough for me to love!

How was I being rude about Dano? He has great body language.

And I've loved Abagail since Raising Helen. And she was good in the pilot episode of Ghost Whisperer.

This has become my new favorite movie. It was definitely the best movie of the year, and and my fav movie of all time, and I KNOW it will win!

For me, I would have guessed, wanted and predicted as Supporting Actor nomination for Paul Dano over Alan Arkin.

I'm just now reading the entire thread, having finished the film. I'm laughing at those of you who opened the thread before seeing the film and got all hot and bothered by the spoilers. Come ON.

Anyway, I am as surprised as the rest of you that Arkin was nominated. I would have nominated Collette, but perhaps that was a more loaded category. She is the rarest of the rare - an actor who doesn't inhabit the character, but allows the character to inhabit her.

absolutely adore this movie and is now one of my favorites. i think carell should have been nominated but i'm happy about the other nominations as well. anyone else love the opening music?

It is a very sweet and poignant film where you believe that the actors make up a real family.

Best scene: the diner and "a la modie"

Paul Dano is a good actor who is also a musician. From what I gather he is not too savvy at realizing that you gotta have a gimmick if you want to have a film career. He was not at the SAG awards and should have been.

He has to go out there and schmooze it up or else he will turn into a 'hasbeen' like Wes Bentley, the gay boyz delight for 5 minutes in American Beauty and has all but vanished from sight.

LMS has a very good chance at winning the Best Pic Oscar. Be there Paul! :)

Just watched it for the second time with my best friend and loved it even more. The best movie of the year. I think the writing is crisp and clever. The cast is sublime.

Isabella, I ADORE the opening music. I bought the entire soundtrack just for that song.

I love this movie. While it may not pack the "gosh, look at how much information we can hurl at you to make you really FEEL these issues" punch some of the other 'Best Movie' nominees have, it's just so full of heart. You can't help but think of these characters as real people, and relate them to those you know. It's a simple story full of complex performances, and the story and characters come more alive each time I watch it.

That being said, I would have gone for Carell as well.

justagirl because of that movie, i started listening to devotchka, the band that does the opening music and even started listening to other bands.
