I couldn't believe how it got any Award nomination.
Some people really liked it, some didn't.
"Some people really liked it, some didn't".
That has happened with every movie that has ever came out. I just wanted to know if anyone agrees with me.
I thought it was okay but I don't understand the Academy's love for it - unless it is their customary acknowledgment that there is a body of independent, non-studio work out there that deserves notice. I did think the actors did about as much with the thin material as they possibly could have.
Alan Arkin's win for Supporting Actor is what really galls me.
loved it, loved the story, loved the characters....
I related to the son a lot, and that's why I liked it so much.
I could hardly get through it.
I hate dramedies that are billed as comedy (ie: Murials Wedding)
Crap, she stole from her parents, one of them dies... how is that funny?
Liked it very much, glad it won awards.
Definitely though Murphy was better than Arkin
Who stole from their parents?
I guess I missed something. I loved "Muriel's Wedding" though. Toni Collette was in both films BTW.
She stole their life savings, and then the father died from a heart attack because of it...
Not funny at all.
"She" means Toni Collette's character? I totally missed that!
The father that dies is Greg Kinnear's father I thought.
Sorry, I just realized that Toni is in both films.....
She stole from her parents in Muriels....
I though it was a very good movie. Just ordered it from Amazon.
Amazing movie, I thought it deserved to win Best Picture
I really liked the movie, too. Although, I do agree that Arkin should not have won that award. I have seen him play that kind of character many times before.
It is a sweet, unpretentious film. Much better than DREAMGIRLS.
I also recommend LETTERS FROM IWO JIWA; outstanding and sad film.
For a cloudy Saturday night, I advise MURDER BY DEATH with Maggie Smith's line "where's my Dicky?"
I wouldn't say it was better than "Dreamgirls" but I liked it a lot.
Whenever LETTERS FROM IWO JIWA comes on dvd, I am going to grab it from blockbuster.

It had a hysterical final scene and was very well acted. Otherwise, there wasn't a single scene whose outcome you couldn't predict.
I, along with spiderdj82, really liked Little Miss Sunshine...but don't really understand Arkin's win. I just watched it again last night and felt the same. I do adore Paul Dano, though. Quite a bit. And I think Abigail Breslin is adorable.
Flags is out on DVD & is coming to PPV
Will put it on DVD & when Iwo Jima comes to PPV, will put it on same DVD. I do not think there is much in the way of extras on Flags DVD

You're going to put it on DVD when it comes on PPV? You must be a VIP, LOL.
Christ Fflagg,
Do you ALWAYS have to slam Dreamgirls?
