So...after watching Lost tonight there are even MORE questions...
Is Henry Gale telling the truth about the balloon? That sure looked like a ballon in the previews....although we dont' know how "the others' got to the island..could they have come in balloon?
Is Jin really the father of Sun's baby?
Will Locke and Jack's competition to be "king of the island" create a new leader in either Sayid or Ana Lucia?
And random observations...
--Loved the grouping of Sayid, Charlie and Ana Lucia going on this little trek. Three people you'd never expect to see together
--Loved the fact that Sawyer was reading "Are You There God, It's me Margaret", which is all about a girl who gets her period, when Sun asked for a pregnancy test
--Is there significance ot the fact that the map was drawn on the back of the title page to 'The Brothers Karamozov"? (Aside from the fact that Locke gave him that book to read)

Can someone PLEASE explain what happened this episode and last?
Ever since that stupid American Idol season started I can't even get near the TV at 8

This is pasted from the other Lost thread a few minutes ago…
Are we supposed to believe that Jin’s ability to now father a child is a result of the island (a la Locke and the wheelchair), or did Sun actually cheat on him? Was that a look of guilt on her face when Jin hugged her, or was that relief that Jin took the news so well? Any thoughts?

Wendy, I loved the scene with Sayid and Ana-Lucia, too. I know Michelle Rodriguez has been getting a lot of crap from the fans, but I’m really intrigued by her character (and that scene did a lot to soften Ana-Lucia).
I think after this episode’s last scene, we have to assume Henry Gale is an “Other” (although it’s not wise to assume anything on this show). But yeah, that did look like the balloon in the preview.
On a completely shallow, superficial note, how hot were Jin and Sun in that opening scene?

I have questions about who is the father of the baby...only because I after seeing Jin's outburst and violence during the first "island" scene tonight, and the discussion about his work with her father, and how you don't tell "a man like that" that he can't be a father, if Sun just figured that he didn't need to have any doubts....Plus, we dont' know how far along she is...haven't they been on the island for a while now, and if she was preganant before they crashed, wouldn't she have started having symptoms a while ago?
And just to make sure, it was Charlie who "abducted" her, to help with Sawyers pland to get the guns, right? So there's no chance that her child could be fathered by one of the others.....

Yeah, it was Charlie who "abducted" Sun. How long have they been on the island at this point, though? Ana-Lucia mentioned tonight that only a week has passed since her group joined the main group. How long were the two groups separated?
Justchillin, TWoP has a (snarky but) detailed recap of the last episode. They will probably post a short recap of tonight's episode tomorrow.

I thought that at least 30 days had passed before the end of Season one......The episode about the "Tailies" was grouped by days, wasn't it? I'm thinking that's where I got the number of days....
We need Jasonf to be in on this discussion...he knows all the little Lost details!

You're right about the days; the episode about the Tailies was named "The Other 48 Days."
UTA: Well, I'm leaning toward the "Island workin' its voodoo" pregnancy theory, then, if Sun wasn't already pregnant when the plane crashed. Surely she didn't cheat on Jin with another castaway (or did she?...hmmmm.).

I love it.
The creepier, the better.
Especially with a Locke week, and it looks like we are about to get a HURLEY!

I KNEW that there would have to be food deliveries eventually, however, I didn't think they'd figure so prominately in the plot!
I love that we were reminded how easily John is conned...and how "Henry" knew exactly how to work him, however, I did think that we'd finally learn how Locke ended up paralyzed ( I thought the guys looking for his dad's money were going to injure him somehow)
So....how long until we get more details about that map thing that showed up on the wall....
Personally...I think the food delivery triggered the walls to come down....I think there's some sort of "double entry" system, since, the former residents of the hatch didn't really come and go. I'm thinking they went out and the hatch sealed itself against "the disease" they believe is out there, and then reopened later. Of course, that could have just been coincidence....and I could be WAY off base...after all this is Lost!

Wow, Allie you confused me! I saw thread and I was like 7 posts about tonight already??
GREAT episode. I was mad at John for trusting Henry, but I guess it paid off in the end. I knew the button was a hoax...and that blue thing reminded me of Violet turning into a blueberry in Willy Wonka. I think the whole DHARMA thing is the key--they are the "others" and this whole thing is somehow a setup. I'm convinced watching the episodes they picked people specifically to be on that plane, so many controlled circumstances--Claire's psychic, Sawyer being deported, Hurley being allowed to make the flight late, etc. Some are more obvious than others, but still...I don't think Charlie was supposed to be one of them; he wasn't supposed to be in the bathroom and survive; hence they tried to kill him...there are further theories you can make like Jack's father is in on it and his "death" ensured Jack would be there, etc. I'm getting way too Lost message boardy but yeah--HOPEFULLY w/ Henry confronted he'll have to start providing some answers. Were those images about Locke's past, like the thing that confronted Mr. god I can't remember his name...they could be thought-reading machines or something.
Oh well, gotta love the Hurley episodes, very excited for next week.
ETA: Wendy I thought the same thing about John in the wheelchair, and that the doors closing had something to do with the food delivery.

Posted: 3/29/06 at 10:15pmI KNEW "Henry" was lying. I yelled at the screen when Locke gave him the numbers. What WAS that on the door, though? Dad said "ooh, aliens!" But come on. I am so hooked on this show it's insane.

Once you watch the first season, you'll be hooked, even if you don't want to be
I knew too! I mean, he was able to recite the numbers back to John way too easily, but then again I knew from the first episode b/c of Sayid's questioning about burying his wife. I doubt many fans believed he was telling the truth, even with the balloon there.

Posted: 3/29/06 at 10:23pmOoh..and do we think the Kate and Jack thing might be heating up again? She seemed very flirty after he won the card game.
#17re: Lost tonight...what do we think?
Posted: 3/29/06 at 10:27pmMeh, I've decided I like Kate and Sawyer better. I still love Sawyer. The best moment in recent memory was him reading "Dear God, It's Me Margaret."
#18re: Lost tonight...what do we think?
Posted: 3/29/06 at 10:30pmOh...I don't like Kate and Jack together either....just find it interesting how she seems to go for which ever one is "king of the mountain" at the time...

catiesus - you will be hooked afer watching the first season.
Last night's episode was great - very season one-ish in its format. And I LOVE that we had a Locke flashback!
I am going to have to rewatch the Tivo and really study the map on the door. 10 bucks says we've got some clues (real clues or otherwise).
I didn't even think of the food delivery having to do with the Lock(e) down!
This show is so werid (and I love it). Looking forward to a Hurley episode next week.

Dame, he was terrific (as was Katey Sagal...her final scene with Locke was just heartbreaking).

This blew right by me last night, but how many of you caught that the woman buying the house Locke was inspecting is Nadia, the woman Sayid was coming to find in the states?
And are we supposed to be drawing some sort of connection between Locke’s con artist father and the real “Sawyer” (the con Sawyer was attempting to track down)?

NCGuy, I think we are supposed to be thinking that, which makes me think it may not be the case.
I agree about "Henry," he is still making my skin crawl, and he has not "done" anything.

Emmy time for Henry...
It'd be his second. He got an Emmy a few years ago for "The Practice." Not sure if it's been brought up, but he's a theatre guy. Done a few Bway shows, and originated Oscar Wilde in "Gross Indecencies..." FANTASTIC actor!

did anyone else go to the ABC.com message board last night after "Lost"? there was a thread entitled "clear pic of the blacklight map". well the link was not the map, was DIRTY and NASTY!
anyways, "Henry" is played by the fantastic Michael Emerson.
credits:
- Starred as Oscar Wilde in the hit Off-Broadway drama "Gross Indecency: The Three Trials Of Oscar Wilde".(1997).
- Made his Broadway debut in 1999 as "Willie Oban" in Howard Davies'revival of "The Iceman Cometh", with Kevin Spacey
- His latest Broadway appearance was in "Hedda Gabler" opposite Kate Burton.
