I was reading at the same time...and I missed a bit of the conversation between Michael and Ana Lucia, and then he shot her! I...jesus! This is why I don't read spoilers.

Ummm...yeah, that came out of nowhere! There are too many questions! Ahhh!!! Is Michael an Other? Has he always been an Other? Were Libby and Ana others? Did Michael kill them to save the group? Is that even really Michael? Where the hell is Walt??
And I missed the first 40 minutes!

I was also a little blindsided by the Sawyer/Ana Lucia thing, but it actually makes perfect sense.
So... are Ana Lucia and Libby definitely dead?

"What the hell is going on?"
I think that's the question of the evening!

#84re: Lost tonight...what do we think?
Posted: 5/3/06 at 10:28pmI hope that Libby isn't dead...I still want to know what the hell she was doing at the hospital where Hurley was!

Same, Mandi. And it's so weird to think that they'd leave that so unresolved, BUT if either of them survive they'll be able to tell everyone that Michael's the one that shot them. So I don't think that can happen, either.
Did Michael then shoot himself in the arm or something to make it look as though "Henry" did it?

"Did Michael then shoot himself in the arm or something to make it look as though "Henry" did it?"
From the previews for next week, which show him with his arm in a sling, it sure looks that way. But what did he do to Henry? Let him go? Shoot him? Tie him back up?
Brain overload!

Maybe Libby will pull through (at least until the end of the season); I can’t imagine they would kill her off before revealing more about her Hurley connection.
Did anyone else try calling the number on the Hanso Foundation commercial? I’ve tried, but I keep getting a “We are unable to process your call at this time” message.
EDITED: Removed possible spoilers (future episode - so sorry to anyone who read it before I edited)

ok..just watched my tape of the first 40 minutes...more questions abound!
Jack's Dad went to Australia to meet that woman, and he kept talking about seeing his daughter. Could Claire be Jack's sister?
What the heck was up with Ana Lucia and Sawyer? Just a ruse to get the gun?
Why was "Henry" coming to get Locke? Who is the "man in charge"? Is it "Goodwin"?
Who is Goodwin? How does he know about the castaways? Why did he think Ana Lucia could be saved?
Ugh...this show addles my brain!

Posted: 5/4/06 at 12:33amWendy, wasn't Goodwin the Other whom Ana-Lucia killed earlier in the season (before the two groups merged)?
#92re: Lost tonight...what do we think?

Goodwin was the "other" that Ana Lucia killed.
Ok, about tonight's episode:
I was as shocked as everyone else that Michael a.shot Ana Lucia, b.shot Libby (although it seems to have been an accident) and c.shot himself. Those last minutes were SO insane...
HOWEVER...as soon as Michael started going on about how he saw "the others", and that they were animals, and lived in huts, and were harmless... I just called bull****. I can't believe Jack and the others didn't question his story. I mean, Kate SAW the hatch. She SAW the beards. They KNOW that the others are smart, resourceful and manipulative. Living in tents, eating fish heads? No weapons? Really? COME ON!!! It was just TOO convenient, and easy...and just plain not true. So I was convinced Michael was working for the others...I just didn't think it would come up in the SAME episode!!
So my thoughs are as follow:
Michael struck up a "deal" with the others so he could get Walt back. He needed to get back to the group, and assure Henry Gale's escape. I assume he'll also be working for them in other capacities. So he had to kill Ana Lucia, and then shoot himself, to make it seem like Henry Gale escaped, and shot Michael in the process. (Shooting Libby wasn't part of the plan, it was just a mistake. And I'm not convinced she's dead. The teasers show Kate saying "she's dead", not "they're dead". It doesn't necessarily mean anything, but I just can't believe they'd get rid of Libby without first revealing what the hell she was doing in Hurley's psych ward)
So, I don't think Michael is an "other" per se. He's just working for them, in order to either get Walt back, or assure his safety.

This is my first time on the board since last night....WOW!!!
I spent the last two minutes of the show literally STANDING in front of my couch, jaw open, just saying "whoa" over and over.
A.L's death actually makes sense -- the parallel with Shannon/Sayid...and she redeemed herself at the end - confessing to her mother and then being unable to shoot Henry. I semi saw that coming, though didn't expect it right then. Libby's death, however, COMPLETELY blind-sided me.
My assumption is that Michael's letting Henry go in a deal for an exchange with Walt. I think there are two groups of others - the ones that Michael described, and the scientists (Zeke, Henry, Goodwin etc.) I think at this point we've only seen the feet of the first group - and Michael knew about them enough to be able to convincingly lie. I think the other group, the scientists, are the ones who have Walt and the other kids, and that's who he somehow made a deal with. I don't THINK he was brainwashed - though who the hell knows?
I was wondering about Jack's dad also -- was that Claire that he went to see? Was that her mother? I couldn't really tell who it was. I loved the crossover with Sawyer there, though.
The big question now that I want answered is how are we going to find out about Libby??? I wanted a flashback ep. from her to explain the mental institute!
I LOVE THIS SHOW!!!!

I agree with the above from BroadwayChica.....but I differ in one respect...I thought that the "others" probably brainwashed Michael in order for Henry to escape. When he woke up, his head was pounding........
This was a great episode!

is it just me or do they keep killing the characters who's stories are resolved (in the sense of us finding out everything)?
First Boone, then shannon, and now ana lucia.
Everyone better pray your favorite character's story isn't told.

The CNN link below discusses the episode and that the female actors shot was a huge coincidence with their both being arrested for drunk driving which was coincidentally happened the same night.
The creators knew what this episode's ending would look like (that they were offing the drunk drivers), but they needed to keep it as is for the plot.

Ok..if you link through that CNN story and there is a link to the Enterainment Weekly story. They had a theory I hadn't read yet....that every woman who has been "intimate" with someone on the island has been killed off! First Shannon, then Ana, and maybe Libby. It just made me laugh!
Oh...and I had one more question...Why do you think there were so many random shots of Jin in last night's episode? We saw him on the beach, then in line at the airport....
Ah...and go to the hansofoundation website..it's kind of cool...although you apparently need to call the phone number that was on their ad last night to get some sort of password. I need to watch my tape again, and copy down the number!
