"I really love it, except for the power supply cord. I just purchased #3 today. On the first one, the wire split right at the plug. The second one actually had the tip break off! I'm hoping that the 3rd one's the charm! (Mostly because they're not cheap! This one set me back $80!)"
singingwendy, you don't have to spend $80 for a power supply cord.
I've had one for quite a while that works great and it only cost me around $30 on amazon.com. You can see it and check out the reviews about it here:
MACALLY POWERBOOK IBOOK AC ADAPTER ( PS-AC4 )
Oh how I love my Mac. It's so pretty and easy to use. PC users are silly, they're always saying how hard Macs are to use, yet you have to do abut 5 times as many things on PCs to get the same thing to happen.
What kind of wireless mouse do you guys recommend? I'm using the one that came with the iMac now, but I miss my scroll button and right-click!
I wanted a Mighty Mouse before I found out that because of the scroll button, it dies within 4 months because of all the hand oils and dirt that get in (and which can't be cleaned)! I have a Microsoft (!) Intellimouse on my old computer, and I really like it, but something wireless would be preferable.
Lizzie, if it makes you feel any better, I've had my Mighty Mouse for 6 months and have had no signs of any problems...and I use my scroll button A LOT.
Thanks for the tip pab.
Unfortunately, this time, I didn't really have a choice. The adapter completely broke on me yesterday, and the computer was uncharged. I want to take the computer with me when I go on vacation tomorrow, and knew that I wouldn't have the time to wait for for something to be shipped. (Last time I ordered one through Apple and at least got the teacher discount.) Plus all our information about rehearsals and everything else for the show i'm currently doing is being sent by email, so I couldn't really wait. So, I went to our local reseller and ended up buying a new one. However, I now know...through pab and a few other friends....that next time (because I'm sure there will be a next time ) I have much cheaper options!

I am the proud lover of a PowerBook G4 that goes by the name Gringoire.
I have a black MacBook, and an iPod.
My Middle School was the first non-college school to require iPods for all students. We use them for Spanish (or French or Mandarin), and Latin, and in Music, Drama, and for File Storage...I looooove mine.

Well, damn. That's pretty nifty - I'm assuming the students had to pay for them, though.
white macbook here!!!
Thanks, maegan! I've heard bad things from several people, so maybe you're one of the lucky ones? :)
Yeah, we had to pay, but there was a discount, and anyone who couldn't pay had one bought for them by the school.
Ooooh, I have a LOVELY iBook!!!
I love it so much! It's a great computer.
What they say is true...

Random question: Can you use a flash drive/USB key with a Mac? If you can, are files transferable between a Mac & PC (providing you have Microsoft Word on both, for instance)
I have one. (512 MB from Staples.)
I haven't done a transfer between PC and Mac, but I've done it between my Intel iMac and old G3, and it works fine. I would be surprised if it didn't work between a Mac and a PC.
It does with no problem.
