Lady Gaga can sight read/sight sing and compose music as a real trained musician can.
Madonna simply did not have this much talent or ability when she started.
She had a modest range with severe pitch issues.(No belt/no soprano range/a plumbly lower and low mid-section that was indeed, gorgeous).
She could not play an instrument until she was 45 years old (sorry - drums played in 1980 do not count).
What Madonna did have was the most charisma of any woman of the last 35 years.
She was an exquisite dancer. Just gorgeous to watch.
She was also the great female concert performer of her generation and one of the most esteemed concert performers of all time.
She also had a god given gift to create a "hook" (and more importantly, a "bridge") for a song and make that hook stick with a listener after one hearing.
Madonna's legacy (and it's a magnificent one) will always be acknowledged......... but it will also be questioned.
