Oh wow. I really had no idea her voice was *THAT* shot. This just made me sad to watch. I knew she couldn't do what she used to do but this is just unfair, she used to be remarkable.

I just posted on the other thread that I wasn't going to judge harshly on the singing because it's hard to sing when you are very emotional. I've never been a fan of all the riffing anyway.
I thought how emotional it must have been also, but you can just tell the voice is gone, still. Very sad.
It is hard to sing when you are emotional...but I was just judging on what it was and saying that it wasn't a highlight for me.
I don't follow R&B music at all so I didn't know who the other guy was at all, but I wonder if him coming on was like a "back up plan" incase she got into trouble.
That was the guy who sang the song with her on her unplugged CD. His name is Trey Lorenz. The song was a hit for them when it came out and he recorded a solo CD shortly thereafter. A decent CD. I own it.
I am wondering why her voice has been so shot this past several months. My first thought was a Whitney situation based on who Mariah is now married to. He's known to be a party boy and has slept around Hollywood for years.
It was 10 in the morning people...
She was emotional.
Sheeze...
Never cared for her version of that song to begin with, so I muted her. What was up with all her hand waving?

There is one way it could be worse and that would be if she said "Ladies and Gentleman...please welcome...Nick Cannon!"
She pretty much always did the hand waving thing.
I understand that she may have been emotional, but I was also referring to other performances I have seen in the past several months that were not up to her usual performances.
girly-I noticed that also, with the hand waving and the making of an "o" with her fingers. I was almost like she was giving herself a voice lesson. weird.
The hand thing was really weird. It looked like she was directing or something.
There was also a point in the song where it looked like she was going to go into one of her riffs and she didn't and the guy did it instead (or alone).
10 in the morning nothing.
I've had to sing at 7 am before. You get up extra early, you warm up, and you sing.
I don't even think she was emotional. It was like she thought she was giving a concert and the focus was on her.
Nothing about her performance, for me, was sincere, except for her true straining to hit the notes that really shouldn't be that hard for her to reach, even early in the morning.
and I'm not even hatin'. I love her. but that was disappointing, to say the very least.
I will say that it ran through my mind that they all had to be nervous and emotional singing right behind the man's casket.
The sinister side of me thinks that MJ was not in that coffin since he isn't going to be buried yet. I would believe he is still having tests done on him.
That could be possible. Actually I turned to my friend that watched it with me and said "Within a few days, the big news will be that his body was not in that casket". I would not be surprised.
I already heard those remarks from one of the news reporters who was commenting as the coffin was being carried in.
I thought it was common knowledge that he was buried yesterday morning, becuase that's when the family funeral was held, but with countless rumors coming out, you never know.
I don't think he was in the coffin.
Also since I think it is said that they don't know where to bury him...or something like that, I think you would have to removed his body from the casket and put it back in a chilled cell to preserve it.
I don't know where or not he would have been embalmed because he is a Jehovah's Witness (not for sure if they agree with it).
If Michael's body is not in that coffin, I'd like to think he filled it with KFC!

um...she sounded like sh*t. real, open, thorough sh*t.
emotional is not an excuse, nor is the hour. 10 a.m. is not that early.
she could buy and sell everyone on this messageboard nonetheless. still sounded B.A.D.
Someone said she sounded like a smoker. But to me, she just sounded like herself on a bad day. The emotion was in evidence. Let's cut her some slack. I've never been a fan (her duet with Whitney on "If You Believe" did me in), but it was heroic to sing in the Staples Center without a rehearsal, for the whole world to see.
You really think those people didn't rehearse? A few of those names were mentioned as appearing at the memorial days before it being finalized, so it really wasn't last minute. I'm sure if they even had a hint they would be asked to perform, they were rehearsing.

Also, her cleavage was wildly inappropriate.
Jennifer Hudson wasnt as good as she usually is either...I've sung at funerals, it's difficult even when you dont know the person...and if you do, forgetaboutit.
She's never performed very well physically. She's been directing her riffs since Vision of Love. Nothing new there...it's always looked awkward.
my thoughts exactly, Jon.
her trollup dress was very selfish and dishonorable.
