I believe it started out as a "Get Martha" case. But she just kept screwing it up more and more. I just don't believe she would risk so much for so little. But then she got scared and started trying to cover up the things that looked bad.

I bet she does little to no jail time. Probably will get community service and a fine. I'm no Martha Stewart fan, but I think they're using an elephant gun on a flea.

I'm not a fan. I see myself as sort of the anti-Martha. Nothing in my house matches or is color-coordinated, my cooking skills are serviceable but uninspired, and you won't find any little frilly hand-made giftcards sporting homegrown air-dried flowers adorning any of my packages on gift-giving occasions. On my vulnerable days, she makes me feel inferior. Most of the time she just irritates me.

That being said, I still think she's paying the price of being Martha. Was she greedy? Maybe. Foolish? Yep. But deserving of serving time in the big house? I'm not so sure.

I don't think she really deserves that much jail time, but I do think that she really didn't handle herself all that well over the course of this whole thing. She really shouldn't have tried to hide information that made her look bad, for hiding it only made her look even more guilty.

no, she'll get at least 27 months. she's facing 20 years. she does no less than 2 full years in the pokey.

just remember folks, as you sit there saying she deserves no jail time, that had you been in the same boat without the millions she had to spend on a defense that you'd be plea bargaining for 8 1/3 years and hoping to get out in 5. if you were lucky.

i think it sends a good message. even the uber wealthy have to pay if they're dumb enough to get caught.

Ya know, I gotta admit it. I do feel kinda sorry for the broad. I like Jane2's analogy of an 'elephant gun on a flea'. I'm very curious if a similar verdict will follow for ol' Kenny Boy.

Another thing I gotta admit...I was chortling with glee over her stockbroker's conviction. Ah, the price of relentless, pushy social-climbing and 'walking' the ladies!

If she goes to jail it'll be one of those low security deals like the one in John Grisham's "The Brethren" if you've ever read it. Those jails are more like a retreat than jail. This case is in the Federal courts isn't it? If she gets into one of those I can see her leading classes on how to 'Spruce up you cell for spring!'

We've been joking about this all day. Martha Steward will write a book about her experence and also give decorating tips for a room the size of a cell. She'll work in the kitchen and do a TV show. Think not? It's called reality TV--"Life with Martha in the Big House". Ok, she only got 10 years but ya gotta admit, it's a good title for the show. LOL!
