I just saw on the news that there is speculation over the fact that Mary Kate is also being treated for a drug addiction in addition to her anorexia... Updated On: 7/2/04 at 03:05 AM
i thought you didn't care about Mary Kate's condition... Updated On: 7/2/04 at 07:30 AM
Come on, everyone! Tell CATS how insensitive he's being by reporting this!! C'mon, make a big deal about how rude it is. What's taking so long?
Cocaine, I hear...Not that I care...but I was watching a re-run of Oprah from about a month or two ago, and she asked about the eating disorder thing, and they said something about people being stupid for starting rumors...hmmmm...Turned out NOT to be a rumor, eh?
Tell me something...if you were guaranteed a billion dollars the day you turned 18, WHY would you do cocaine...gaaah...People these days...
Well, my original post was very mean spirited, but I changed it so I wouldn't get yelled at, and now I'm getting yelled at for not being mean.... ugh....
No no no, Cats. I was referring to when I posted that Mary Kate had Anorexia. Everyone just jumped on me immediately.
"if you were guaranteed a billion dollars the day you turned 18, WHY would you do cocaine...gaaah...People these days... "
well she knows she can afford it :P
But can she afford the stigma, the side affects, the addiction, the jail time, the trauma that it will inflict not only on her own body but on the emotional lives of her friends and loved ones? Money does NOT take care of all of these "little problems"...
Redhot, nobody rolled that thousand dollar bill and put it to her little nose and made her snort. Nobody makes anyone do that. If you want to do it, you better be ready to take responsibility for the side effects like addiction, jail time, trauma and the stigma.
Redhot- ...Im not just talking about Mary Kate here since this isn't even verified, yet but in general it sounds like you are defending drug addictions.
Perhaps the wealthy are just as likely to make poor decisions and hurt themselves and those around them as those less financially set. Money, after all, doesn't buy happiness.
And they deserve our same help, too.
...and an 18 year old is able to make those decisions clearly for him/herself? I think not. An 18 year old cannot possibly know what life has in store for them, nor can they know the consequences of their actions. Very few ADULTS can possibly know those consequences - but with time, patience, a little love and support from the right people in their lives, they can learn to make informed decisions which will not be hurtful to their bodies and psyches.
You are saying someone under 18 doesn't have the capacity to decide wheter or not to do cocaine!!! I think not. But hey sad excuse if someone wants to use it.
There's no sensible reason to do cocaine, regardless of one's age or wealth. But people from all walks of life do it and those people need a lot more help than they do scorn. And, although a lot of people don't want to hear it because they of course are without flaw and would NEVER make these same mistakes if only THEY were in the same place, the Olsen twins were under the same pressure that drives CEO's and businessmen worldwide to suicide, all before they were old enough to drive. It's no wonder they may have made some bad choices on how to get away from it.
It is sad what wealth brings to people. They were stars at a very young age. I doubt they lived a normal life. I feel bad for her. But, truthfully, they should spread their wealth around a little so I can find out what it feels like to be rich.
cociane is a tricky substance too. i was (am) very close to someone for years and i never knew that they had a substance problem. but as mad as i was when i found out, i had to consider the fact that everyone has some kind of addiction, wheather it's mcdonalds mcflurry's or cociane. some of these addictions are much more dangerous, but harsh judgement does not help to cure them.

HUSSYS!
I hope she gets better, but people who go and deliberately make themselves sick don't get a whole lot of sympathy from me right now. I'm pretty damn sick myself. Stuck here with a disease that was thrown at me one day (That I did absolutely NOTHING to get) and I can't even afford medication or treatment. So these rich people who make themselves sick just to spend a fortune "getting better" like I said, don't get a whole lot of sympathy from me right now.
You think Mary Kate would give me some of her money so I can get some meds or go to a doctor again? Yeah, I thought not.
Whatever Mary Kate's problem is (neither anorexia nor drugs have actually been confirmed), I don't think she did it on purpose as you've said, Matt. And it's quite possible she'd have more compassion for you than you're showing her. The fact that you're sick, is not her fault. Everyone has their own crosses to bear, and since you don't know her personally, I wouldn't think you could understand hers any better than she can understand yours. People are people. And no one said that life was fair or that we'd all be doled out equal amounts of money, love, and success.
I'm talking about her putting that coke in her nose, not her anorexia. And if she has such little disregard for her ownself, I'm sure she wouldn't show me much more.
I never said that money bought happiness. I never said that people with money weren't allowed to have love and support.
What I'm SAYING is that most of the people I know that have had problems with drug addictions started doing it because their lives...well, sucked. I know that money doesn't buy happiness, but when you don't have any and you're miserable because of it, it's a different story.
Like when you don't have enough money for food. Or when you're sick but you can't pay for anything to make you feel better. Or when you live in a cardboard box in an alley somewhere. A thousand dollars would make the situation a hell of a lot happier, dontcha think?
I guess what I'm saying is that when you're as lucky as those girls are, you shouldn't be doing sh1t like that. There's no reason. Yes, fine, there's stress. So get on your yacht and go to the Carribbean for the weekend. Or go on a shopping spree at Chanel. Or get a $500 massage.
Don't yell at me for being insensitive.
