Outside of the kick ass and chew bubblegum line, what is the best line from "They Live?"

"You look like your face fell in the cheese dip back in 1957."

And -- if you could create your own 20-person Royal Rumble, who would be in it, and who would win? Rule: The ghost of Gorilla Monsoon is required to be a participant.

Let's see ... twenty ... Hawk, Animal, The Spoiler, Jake Roberts, The Masked Superstar, Abdullah the Butcher, Bruiser Brody, Jesse Ventura, Adrian Adonis, Dr. D. David Shultz, the Ghost of Gorilla Monsoon, Buzz Sawyer, Tommy Rich, Ron Garvin, Kamala the Ugandan Giant, Randy Savage, Adrian Street, Austin Idol, Harley Race and Iron Mike Sharpe.

I'd say Bruiser Brody wins because, come on, he'd just change the finish if he wanted to anyway.

my question is have you ever seen a game in the swamp?

Nope but I was supposed to go to a game at UT (I used to have a sis in Nashville) until they found out I was a Gator fan.

congrats, popa. since you're there...excluding otto graham, who would you say was the greatest quarterback in ohio professional sports history?

Geez, you're asking me the best QB in Browns or Bengals history ... not the most storied histories here!

Honestly, probably Kosar. He blew his elbow and couldn't throw past thirty yards but, well, he was better than Brian Sipe. And all the Bengals suck. Yes, even worse than the Browns. Well, not NOW.

In your opinion, what's the difference between a nerd and a geek?

Semantics.

Who are your 5 favorite Cleveland Indians right now?

Honestly, now I only really dig Hafner and Sabathia. The other guys are sort of faceless to me. They're coming around though.

5 favorite ever?

Julio Franco
Manny Ramirez
Brook Jacoby (only because he hit the first homer I ever saw in person)
Joe Carter
Charlie Nagy (for two or three years, every time I went to an Indians game, I always say Nagy pitch and I never did it on purpose.)

What are your four favorite musicals?

Jesus Christ Superstar, Bat Boy, Violet, Sweeney Todd

Four favorite TV shows?

I don't watch any regular TV anymore.

Who are 10 of the hottest women alive?

Geez ... in no order ... Kristin Davis, Rachel McAdams, Jessica Biel, Jessica Alba, Kelly Clarkson, Reese Witherspoon, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Claire Forlani, Eva Mendez, Sherri Moon Zombie ... something like that! Updated On: 6/6/06 at 08:11 PM

Ok here goes! Of course Caitie you would be the first to bombard me with questions :) I wonder if there is a length limit for these?

What are your 5 favorite musicals? Ok this is the first question and it is already a hard one. I like so many shows that it is hard to rank them. I go through phases where I can't get enough of one show -- but then two weeks later I am so sick of listening to it that the CD goes back on the shelf for two years! But to answer your question I will give you 5 shows that mean a lot to me.

1) A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum: this was the first show that I was cast in a major role in (Hero). Also, my father played one of the Proteans so all around it became a very special experience.

2) Les Miserables: I saw this show on tour right before I did Forum and it is what got me hooked on musicals. This show stayed my favorite for years and in 1995 when my family got AOL I created first the screen name Hero809 (after the role I played) but then a computer virus forced us to change our screen names so I picked Enjolras77 and 11 years later I still have it. Although Les Miz has long since been eclipsed as my favorite musical.

3)Parade: One of the things I will always regret is that I had a chance to see this show in NYC while it was playing but decided against it. I bought the recording after seeing the performance on the 1999 Tonys (I also bought the AGYG revival CD at the same time in case I didn't like it) and I was immediatley blown away by the story and the music. It is rare that a show inspires as much as this one did. I read all of the historical accounts of the Frank case, took a trip to Atlanta to visit all of the historical locations, and sang "Come Up to My Office" at my senior voice recital in college (I even think a bad recording of it is still floating around on the internet somewhere). The role of Leo is one I would pay large sums of money to play..even if I am a blonde haired, blue eyed, gentile...

4)The Secret Garden: Although I resisted this show at first because I thought it was for little girls...when I heard "Lily's Eyes" performed at a recital I was hooked. I have more recordings of this show than any other (I guess it is tied with PJ Game now) and I have performed songs from this show on numerous occasions.

5) Ragtime: Another show whose powerful story and music got me hooked. I have performed "Make Them Hear You" at more recitals and cabarets than any other song...except maybe "Anthem" from Chess. I have also to this day still not seen The Lion King due to the 1998 Tonys...although if someone gave me free tickets today I would probably see it.

Other guilty pleasures:
1) Jekyll and Hyde: a show that has many flaws, but for some reason I can't get enough of the power pop music.
2) Subways are for Sleeping: a fun flop with some good Jule Styne tunes
3) Barnum: although some of my friends say the music is the epitome of "cheesy" I love it!
4) Mack and Mabel: another fun flop with an amazing score.
5) Chess: "Anthem" is one of my favorite showtunes of all time!

Here is Part II of Caitie's questions...I will save the story about my yearly trips for my next post since I know which story she is getting at....

you are a sports fan but so who is your favorite...

NFL team? the Carolina Panthers...been a season ticket holder since year 1 and have been at both home playoff game wins against Dallas (1996 and 2003)

college team? UNC Tar Heels are my favorite major college team since most of my family graduated from there, I also follow my Appalachian State Mountaineers (2005 Div 1-AA Football National Champs!)

Baseball team? being in Charlotte which is Atlanta Braves country I guess I have followed them the most. In the mid 90's I liked the Cleveland Indians since Charlotte's AAA team was their farm club so I got to see Jim Thome and Manny Ramirez before they were big league stars.

basketball team? I was one of the few Charlotte Hornets fans who went to games the last few seasons...now I am trying to get excited for the Bobcats. Their new arena is REALLY nice BTW.

hockey team? The Carolina Hurricanes! 1-0 lead in the Stanley Cup Finals!

What is your favorite thing to do on the weekends? Sleep in, play pick-up games of basketball, and go to the movies, a sporting event, or out to see a show.

What do you like most about your job? Being able to work with kids and help them learn about music without the day to day grind of having to be in the classroom anymore.

What is your ideal meal? Steak with a little spicy seasoning, pasta, or Mexican

What is your comfort food?My Mom's chicken and rice or my Mother-in-law's apple pie

What would your best friend say about you if we askedhim/herto describe you? That I am very loyal and willing to do anything for them. My best friend is actually over in Iraq right now (he is in the National Guard) so my thoughts and prayers are with him everyday. He also would say that I have a great sense of humor and a sharp wit.

Who are your top 5 favorite performers?
1) Anthony Warlow: need I say more?
2) Frank Sinatra: THE voice
3) Brian Stokes Mitchell: powerful, rich baritone voice
4) Gene Kelly: amazing dancer and performer
5) Audra McDonald: amazingly clear soprano voice, very talented and down to earth.

Most Memorable Birthday: hmmmm...that is a tough one. When I was a kid my birthday (August 9th) was right before I had to go back to school so it wasn't always the most pleasant time! On my 16th birthday (1993) some friends and I went to a Charlotte Knights (Cleveland Indians affiliate at the time) baseball game. They were playing the team from Columbus which was the Yankees AAA farm team. There were a lot of future major league players in that game (and some future all-stars). Manny Ramirez hit a grand slam for the Charlotte team and they won the slugfest. Before the game my friends thought they would be funny by taking me to "Hooters" -- but that is another story! LOL

To finish Caitie's original questions (sorry I had to actually do a little work in between postings)...she asked "At your yearly trips to NYC have you ever randomly seen famous people? Who and is there a story with it?" I know ecxactly what story she is getting at....

In October of 2001 I came up to NYC in order to see Thou Shalt Not, a preview of Mamma Mia! and Raul's last performance in Tick Tick...BOOM!. After seeing TSN I decided not to wait at the stage door but to go over and check out the stage door at the St. James (since the show there wasn't over yet). I thought I might beat the crowd and be able to get Nathan's autograph after The Producers (I had seen the show previously that summer, but it was on a night where Nathan walked straight to his awaiting car). I got my spot at the barricade and waited (sounds like a scene from Les Miz)...but to my surprise there was a lot of commotion erupting behind me as the crowd was coming out of the theatre. When I turned and looked I saw Bill and Hillary Clinton walking out of the show with a lot of fanfare around them. I decided that I would rather have a picture of them so I abandoned my post. There was a limo and a minivan waiting on the street; I assuming that the Clintons would be getting into the limo moved into a spot right in front of the minivan to take their picture. The next thing I knew I was being shoved across the street by a member of their entourage because of course...they were taking the minivan..LOL. I still got a shot of the top of the president's head so there is at least SOME proof!

The very next day after seeing TTB I was waiting outside for Raul and Molly Ringwald to come out. I struck up a conversation with this woman (or should it be "that woman") who was standing beside me. About that time someone approaced her and started to hassle her for an autograph, she declined, and the man got rude. I kindly told him that obviously she didn't want to sign and to quit asking. It was at that moment that I realized that I had been talking to Monica Lewinsky.

I couldn't believe that I had run into both of them in less than 24 hours..LOL

If you were recuperating in a hospital, who would you want in the bed next to you, excluding relatives? Probably my best friend, Adam. We would be able to have entertaining conversation for hours so the stay would go by really fast.

What has given you the most pleasure in the last year? Well...I got married and took a trip to NYC so both of those caused a lot of pleasure! Not to diminish either of those but more recently I was able to meet Carol Channing and that was an experience I will NEVER forget!

What's something that we would be surprised to learn about you? To most people it would be that I am such a huge supporter of the arts AND straight. One other thing is that I am rarely ever cold. It may be from my days at App State. I am very comfortable in a house whose temperature is below 70 degrees. Also, one snowy winter while in college someone stole my large coat. Being a poor college student I went the rest of the winter without buying a coat and was fine. I keep a fan on at night and on my desk during the day because I like to feel air blowing on me. Of course I also have a very low heat tolerance and sweat profusely after doing minimal work outside.

If your house were on fire, what would you grab on the way out? Other than my wife, I would probably grab my photo albums and the recordings of shows I have been in. It would be hard not to start grabbing my CD's or playbills but those things can be replaced (regardless of cost)...the photos with people who are no longer with us, or of past experiences can't be.

If we asked an important person in your life to describe you, what would he or she say? How accurate would it be? It would be pretty accurate. They would first tell you that I am a good singer and performer (since I have sung at every major event for most of my friends and family members). They would also say that I am dependable and loyal and that I would make sacrifices for them. They would say that I am shy at first, but once I get to know someone I won't shut up.

What’s something that you’ve never done, but have always wanted to try? To really learn how to dance.

What’s the last great gift that you gave someone? That you were given? All of a sudden every gift I have ever given anyone has left my memory! I can't think of anything offhand. I am always buying little gifts or doing things to surprise my wife. She is a pianist so a lot of times I will buy her music that she can use or use with her students. She gets excited because sometimes it is music she didn't even know existed. A great gift she gave me was for valentines day several years ago back before we were married. I was the typical bachelor and had run up some credit card debt. I opened my card from her and in it was a check to cover the sum of the balance of one of my credit cards. I tried to refuse it but she wouldn't let me. I guess her gift came back to help her this past year when we bought our house because my credit has improved greatly since that day!
