What hath Rath wrought?
I hate to admit how seriously I took this honor-- While I love (yes LOVE) just dozens of the wise, wacky, witty, witchy posters on this board, there were two folks that somehow always felt more real than "Virtual." When I first arrived at BWW and got the usual whirl of attention, positive and negative, Rath was one of those real folks who made life on this board so delightful. Hearing from her (on the board or through a PM) always brightened my day. She accused me of having a little crush (and I did) but more than that I think I want to BE Rath! She's funny, fearless, wise, all that crap-- but she don't take no crap! I always think of She & Margo as the Grande Dames of the board-- if they say "no" to somethign I post I'm devastated for a week! I had no idea Rath had been "away" from the board, but then I've been a bit away myself. I only knew that she had to be honored on this thread! I'm glad to see the swell of love and even gladder to hear her voice on this board again!
And what of our delightful Miss P? It was love at first sight! She broke onto the board reluctantly, unwilling to slide into the mud that is the OT board, but once in the pool, she made it seem like we had been wallowing in champagne! God, she's so funny and wise and kind and-- well, my natural cynicism prevents me from gushing any more. I was so delighted she singled me out for this honor and even happier that she had been honored herself. The board needs a lot more P! (And hey, wouldn't that be a great premise for a Urinetown sequal?) And Darling, we'll always have Wicked!
Thanks for a great day everyone!
So Rath, I hear you are going through some changes-- I know how that is. What inspired you?
Yay!
She's here, she queer... get on with it!
I'm so glad you're back... even if it's like "Brigadoon"... just for the day... only to vanish again mysteriously into the mist!
Q: What is your ultimate dream role, dream cast (surround you, of course) and dream "behind-the-scenes" team to bring it all together!?
Joe, answering yours will take some time, so I will come back to it later.
Twelvy - I'm not sure what my ideal role would be - there are so many wonderful ones that I would be completely wrong for! Surrounding me onstage? Hmmm....Ziemba HAS to be there, for sure. Hopefully we'll be playing best friends - or sworn enemies - either one would be a hoot. Monk, of course...and Tony Sheldon and Toni Lamond, two Aussie MT performers who are important in this equation. I could fill out an 80-member cast with all the talented people I'd want around me, that's for sure! You'd be there, right?
congrats rath!
What are the top five theatrical performances you have witnessed?
Welcome back Rath!
Congrats Rath!
I hope you have a fabulous weekend!
I am happy to be able to read your answers to people's questions.
In no particular order:
The 1989 ensemble cast of GYPSY
The ensemble cast of DANCING AT LUGHNASA
Lynn Redgrave in I NEVER SANG FOR MY FATHER
Julie Harris in THE GIN GAME
Glenda Jackson in MACBETH
Rath,
I can't tell you how much I have missed you, beautiful!
I hope wonderful things are happening for you.
Just a few questions ...
What's you cousin's favorite meal?
Does your cousin like tall, older men?
If your cousin marries me, will you be his best woman?
Awww, SOMMSY, I love ya, even though you only love me for my relatives!
I don't know his favorite meal
He likes anything cute, so you would qualify
And - of COURSE!!!
CONGRATS RATH!
Congratulations on your day Rath, great that it's also your holiDAY!

Dearest Rathy,
What is your favorite part about being Irish? If there was a Rathnait Day (other than on the boards, of course), how we would celebrate? What is your favorite Irish folktale?
What I love about being Irish is the culture and the people I've met who grew up there. It's so full of life. The music goes straight to my heart.
On Rathnait Day, there would be LOTS of singing and friends around!
I don't know many Irish folktales...
"Hello, Rathy.
Well, Hello, Rathy.
It's so nice to have you back where you belong!"
Is the self-imposed exile over for good? Or just for the weekend? Kind of like the Catholics who are eating Corned Beef today...how could you NOT? Please tell us you are going to be the guest judge for the final round of BWW Idol!
Has Corine ever been Celebrity of the Day?
Rathy, I'd be there with BELLS on... or whatever the appropriate attire!
"What was she thinking?"
...Made me laugh out loud.
Twelvy, you do realize I meant ONstage with me? Or perhaps directing...

I'm going to attempt to answer Joe's earlier question in as succinct a manner as possible.
My inspiration was a series of things - being told by a Broadway performer who directed me in an amateur show over a year ago that I should be a working performer, that I could get work. Then, auditioning for an off-off-Broadway production full of people who had worked professionally or were on their way there (just finishing MT degrees, etc.) just for the audition experience, and actually getting cast. Realizing I couldn't put my dreams on hold any longer - that my body and my psyche wouldn't allow it, and I really had no choice.
Also, a fellow poster, who had given up on the biz some years ago, decided to change his life and go back into it. He was a big inspiration to me, and he knows it.
All those things combined helped me to chuck it all and have my midlife crisis.

2. Patty Hearst - and I got to meet her a few years ago - a thrill!
