Wait. How are you supposed to pronounce it??
Boobs---That's a tough question! Part of me wants to be deadly serious about it and say I'd like to interview Adolph Hitler and ask him what the hell was he thinking? But the thought of bringing someone like that back to life just to try to figure out what made him tick... I can't say it's worth it. Better off leaving him to the worms. So, I'd rather bring back someone that I'd actually LIKE to talk to... and the first person that comes to mind is George Gerswhin. I'd like to ask him to describe (as best he could) his creative process of writing music.
SOMMS---LOL! While I used to be a bit of a bar fly (over a decade ago), I can hardly lay claim to knowing the best 12 bars in L.A. Probably over half of the ones I remember don't even exist anymore. My club-crawlin' days are long behind me now.

Cheers to best12bars!
great answer Best...now on to another question...What inspires you?
Yay for you Best12 ! You're someone I always thought was friendly, funny, and informative, congrats to you. I'll be back with my question soon~
In the spirit of all that is pompus and overblown, I bring you a questionare which has been answered by many a celebrity here at the Actor's Studio. Created by Bernard Pivot, they are probably the most important questions ever posed by humanity.
1. What is your favorite word?
2. What is your least favorite word?
3. What turns you on creatively, spiritually or emotionally?
4. What turns you off?
5. What is your favorite curse word?
6. What sound or noise do you love?
7. What sound or noise do you hate?
8. What profession other than your own would you like to attempt?
9. What profession would you not like to do?
10. If Heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the Pearly Gates?
Boobs--So many things inspire me! But the first answer that popped to mind:
Talent and passion.
Nothing inspires me more to be a better person than someone extremely talented, or someone very passionate about life, love, their work, etc.
Makes me want to "rise to the occasion" myself.
congrats b12b! Enjoy your day!
Congratulations Best12Bars - You're answers so far have made me proud to call you "son". I noticed from one of your recent posts that you at least spent a little time in Michigan (some years ago). Just wondering if you have any other connections to the Great Lake state or just was there for the Barn Theater. Also what is your favorite childhood memory and started your interest in theater?

Another left-coaster! And a very good person at that
Where are some places you like in the LA area?
Kitzy--LOL! I pictured you with beard and glasses just then. It was a great imitation, I might add! Okay, I'll give this old war horse my best shot...
1. What is your favorite word? Perseverance.
2. What is your least favorite word? Complacency.
3. What turns you on creatively, spiritually or emotionally? Humanity.
4. What turns you off? Disregard, disrespect and jealousy.
5. What is your favorite curse word? F*ck!
6. What sound or noise do you love? A very talented, versatile mockingbird outside my window that wakes me up most every morning.
7. What sound or noise do you hate? A dentist's drill.
8. What profession other than your own would you like to attempt? Teacher.
9. What profession would you not like to do? Paparazzi.
10. If Heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the Pearly Gates? Well done! Glad you made it.
Congrats Best12Bars, I cannot wait to hear your responses to DG's questions!
Enjoy your day!
Congratulations, and enjoy your day!
What brought you to BWW, and how did you find the OT board?
bwayaddict --- My ties to Michigan come from the Barn Theatre in Augusta (between Battle Creek and Kalamazoo). I spent three summers there in the mid-'80s doing stock. I was still in college at the time (at the University of Kansas) when I applied for the EMC program at the Barn, so I went directly there when I was accepted. No other real ties to Michigan, but I loved being there for three summers. It's a beautiful state, and I have a lot of fond memories of driving around and exploring Michigan on my (rare) days off.
DG --- First of all, I love your av! I've been a Wizard of Oz freak (very passionately) since I first became aware of the world (probably age 3 or so!).
There are quite a few places I like in the L.A. area. It's kind of amazing that you can get in a car and drive for a couple of hours and end up with every kind of climate and surroundings you can think of. I'm in love with Lake Arrowhead and Big Bear right now. Only 2 hours from L.A., and it feels like I'm in the Colorado mountains at a resort. Nothing at all like the big, bad city below! I also enjoy (in smaller doses) the Santa Monica peer, Malibu, Santa Barbara, Oldtown in Pasadena, (occasionally) Palm Springs and Las Vegas (but I'm not a HUGE fan of either). There's a lot of variety out here.
Great choice, Rath! And congrats b12b!
Now give us your "best 12 bars"--in both meanings of the phrase:
What are your favorite songs to sing out loud?
And what are your favorite bars to hang out in?
Great choice Rath!!!! Hugs for our newest celeb!!
Question time
1, Favorite cookie
2, Hero as a child
3, Favorite book as a child
4, Way to spend a rainy Saturday.
A big confetti toss for B12B!!!
NYadgal---I think I "stumbled" onto BWW by accident through a Google search a couple of years ago. It took me a while before I actually "clicked" on the message board and started reading posts. Another few months went by before I signed up with a user name... and I was very timid about initially posting. This is the first and only board that I participate in. Your passion for "all things theatre" is what drew me in and got me excited about playing along. I suppose I stumbled onto the OT Board in pretty much the same way. I clicked over one day, just to check it out, and found a subject that intrigued me. I must say that I'm very impressed by the wide variety of subjects (from sublime to ridiculous!) that are covered here. I consider myself a "moody" guy, so I like to be both serious and silly. And this seems like the place for both.

Best12bars, congratulations! Wonderful choice, Rath! Best12bars, you are one of my favorite posters - always thoughtful, humerous and a truly inspired storyteller. Your varied and wonderful experiences are always fascinating. Have a terrific day!
If I may, my usual questions: What is your favorite "comfort" read or music?
Broadway Legend Joined: 11/2/05
What five people with public voices - either living or dead, as long as their 'message' is available to the public - are worth listening to, and why?
PalJoey---Favorite songs to sing out loud! Well, I'm a Bari-Tenor "belter," so I like to let the back row hear me good and loud. Depending on my moods (sometimes I feel like the singing "Sybil"), I would say... (completely off the top of my head):
Oklahoma!
Later (A Little Night Music)
Molases to Rum
I Feel a Song Comin' On
Just Across the River
Pretty Women
Being Alive
God Bless America (but only after a "few")
(Those were really random, and I'm sure there are more!)
My favorite LA bar was closed down a while ago... Revolver. I met my partner (of ten years!) there. It was a very popular video bar. Stand, stare, strike a pose. Pretty people galore... even the occasional celebs. The other would be Oil Can Harry's in Studio City. God, I used to live there 2-3 nights a week, back in my "single" days. I met so many terrific people there (both "friends" and "lovers"). It's primarily a Country/Western bar. We used to call it many things affectionately: Seven Brothers for Seven Brothers always made me laugh the most.
mominator---Thanks sweetie!
1, Favorite cookie Mrs. Field's Chocolate Chip
2, Hero as a child Martin Luther King Jr. (maybe because my socially-conscious parents were discussing him so much, I could tell even at a very early age that this man was changing things for the better)
3, Favorite book as a child The Wizard of Oz
4, Way to spend a rainy Saturday. Writing, drinking decaf, listening to Ella Fitzgerald... then later on playing board games and drinking "killer" margaritas (made by yours truly)... and taking a late-afternoon walk in the rain around the neighborhood... (to sober up a bit)!
Gotta run now to get ready for work, but I promise I will return to answer any and all questions you pose! These have all been fun so far.
It's a busy Monday for me today, with several meetings scheduled... but "I'll be back!"
b12b: What is your ideal meal? And your favorite comfort food dish?
Congrats Best! I always enjoy your posts
Ok..I have to ask...Why 12 bars? Why not 16? Are you really a closet blues musician?
