Peach, I'm glad I'm not the only one.
Sarah, those are very hard questions, but I'll try.
What favourite Elton John song and why? I keep going back to "Someone's Final Song" from his Blue Moves album. It has beautiful back-up singing arranged by one of the Beach Boys and a pizzicato bass line in the chorus that is just gorgeous. My favorite songs in his musicals are "Elaborate Lives" from Aida and "The Letter" from Billy Elliot.
What is your favourite Adam Pascal song and why? Of his recorded songs, probably "I'm With You," but I really love the new songs he performed in LA recently too. Of those, it's a tie between "Cybele" and "A Single Drop of You."
I know you like to analyze song lyrics. What lyrics have you come across that have the most meaning for you? I can't say any have the *most* meaning, but one of the first set that came to mind is from Joni Mitchell's song "Blue:"
Blue, songs are like tattoos
You know I've been to sea betore
Crown and anchor me
Or let me sail away
Hey blue, here is a song for you
Ink on a pin
Underneath the skin
An empty space to fill in
Well there're so many sinking now
You've got to keep thinking
You can make it thru these waves
Acid, booze, and ass
Needles, guns, and grass
Lots of laughs, lots of laughs
Everybody's saying that hell's the hippest way to go
Well I dont think so
But I'm gonna take a look around it though
Blue, I love you
Blue, here is a shell for you
Inside youll hear a sigh
A foggy lullaby
There is your song from me Aside from the fact that they're simply brilliant, they remind me of times I've "taken a look around" some hellish situations.
