Hope you enjoyed your weekend girl! One last question. Is your favorite play The Glass Menagerie and why does "blue roses" have significance for you?
Broadway Legend Joined: 10/18/04
It's one of my favorite plays, and blue roses has special significance for me but it's too involved to explain (and there's no time left)! So...
I'd like to pass along the crown to...
broadway86!
I always enjoy his well-written posts, and appreciate his genuine love for film. Congratulations, broadway86!

Heads up everyone...
This weekend, this thread will be locked. Then, through the 30th (the following weekend) it will stay locked until Monday October 2nd when we will resume with the MBCotD.
I will not be available during this week and rather that burden one of our moderators with the daily reminder of having to edit/etc, I thought this would be the easiest. I hope everyone understands.
This week will go as usual - next week, the thread is on hiatus!

Congrats broadway86!

My "new usual" questions:
What is your favorite role you'd one day like to play (soon as you get cast on Broadway)?
Which is your favorite Broadway songwriter/songwriter team?
What do you do first when you wake up in the morning? ("getting up" doesn't count)
If you were given the power, which past Broadway production would you undo so it never could have happened?
Enjoy your day!

Aw, I hope he doesn't miss his day.
Another question for when he arrives...Top five movies in the past five years?
Oh, wow. I didn't even realize it. Thanks so much blueroses.
1) female
Bernadette Peters. She was adorable in Annie Get Your Gun, but she absolutely broke my heart in Gypsy.
2) male Broadway performer
Not my favorite singer (I know, I know...), but he is one of the most stage dynamic stage presences I've ever seen. He demands focus from his audience, and he's a brilliant performer.
Cameron Crowe...yay or nay?
Yay, yay, yay. WIth the exception of Elizabethtown, I have enjoyed everything that he's done. Yes, even Vanilla Sky. I think his best film is Almost Famous.
What is your favorite role you'd one day like to play (soon as you get cast on Broadway)?
My dream role in a play is George in Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?. I probably wouldn't pull it off pull it off, but hey. It's my fantasy... My dream role in a musical is the title role in Sweeney Todd What could possibly be better?
Which is your favorite Broadway songwriter/songwriter team?
Flaherty and Ahrens. Everything they right is mesmerizing. Kander and Ebb and Rodgers and Hammerstein are right behind.
What do you do first when you wake up in the morning? ("getting up" doesn't count)
Shower. Definitely. Very few things are more luxurious.
If you were given the power, which past Broadway production would you undo so it never could have happened?
Dance of the Vampires. I know that there is a cult following, but geez. honestly couldn't believe some of the things that were coming out of the actors' mouths. Great production design, however.
Starbucks order?
Caramel apple cider. Especially during the fall.
Favorite ice cream?
Chocolate chip cookie dough. I can't eat too much of it, though. Dammit...
Top five movies in the past five years?
Brokeback Mountain
Far from Heaven
The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King
Almost Famous
Mulholland Drive
Runners-up: I feel bad leaving off Moulin Rouge, Eternal Sunshine..., and Sideways.
Gongrats!!
If you had to eat someone how would you cook them?

Congrats, javero! I always enjoy your posts! I hope you have a wonderful day.
So...question time!

Favorite ice cream?
Dammit! I missed this thread again, yesterday! I'm sorry broadway86.
Congrats Javero!
If you were recuperating in a hospital, who would you want in the bed next to you, excluding relatives?
What has given you the most pleasure in the last year?
What's something that we would be surprised to learn about you?
If your house were on fire, what would you grab on the way out?
If we asked an important person in your life to describe you, what would he or she say? How accurate would it be?
What’s something that you’ve never done, but have always wanted to try?
What’s the last great gift that you gave someone? And, that you were given?

Wow, I'm indeed honored to get the nod. Lemme see...
Role I covet on Broadway: Writer/Director in that I'm trying to complete my first novel which I hope to adapt to the stage down the road. I took a playwrighting course @ Gotham a few years back. Not really interested in performing on stage.
Fav songwriters: John Kander & Fred Ebb R.I.P. Though I'm partial to straight plays, I enjoy musicals that contain music by a composer/lyricist team that knows how to write for what used to known as legitimate theatre.
Show that should be banished from Broadway forever: 'Rent'!!! I'm never comfortable questioning the tastes of others but have to question, "What is the allure of this drivel?"
True Confession: I saw ‘Aida’ 6x with 4 different ladies in the titular role, 2 different males as Radames, 2 different ladies as Amneris. Lemme just say that for a long time between Heather and Deborah Cox’s respective runs, I thought the show was headed to ‘Rent’-land.
Congrats Javero!
If you were recuperating in a hospital, who would you want in the bed next to you, excluding relatives? Ans. Thandie Newton or Catherine Zeta-Jones (gotta thing for foreign accents, especially from the UK)
What has given you the most pleasure in the last year?
Ans. Receiving an e-mail reply from White House press corps gadfly Helen Thomas about her rousing appearance on Bill Maher’s cable series last season.
What's something that we would be surprised to learn about you?
Ans. I prefer to be called “colored” to African American or black; loathe all things hip-hop; feel that femininity is the height of womanhood and on the wane in the US; would support Bill O’Reilly for US president on an indie ticket, and detest Shaun Hannity with a passion.
If your house were on fire, what would you grab on the way out?
Ans. My baritone ukulele (Linus had his blanket LOL)
If we asked an important person in your life to describe you, what would he or she say? How accurate would it be? Ans. I’m a self-starter, independent thinker and staunch defender of individual rights without being preachy. Also, I’m extremely generous to children and humble people but at times harsh to men that exploit or abuse women and children (some are former friends of mine).
What’s something that you’ve never done, but have always wanted to try? Ans. Water ski & travel throughout Europe train.
What’s the last great gift that you gave someone?
Ans. I convinced my condo association to make a rental unit available to a family dislocated by Hurricane Katrina last year at no charge for 4 months.
And, that you were given?
This acknowledgement as Celebrity of the Day because I really don’t seek any sort of accolades here. I simply enjoy the interaction with some really sharp minds that are in tune with both earth-shattering and banal events that transpire throughout the day.
Peach,
I'm not adventurous when it comes to coffee or ice cream. I play it safe with LightNote Blend & vanilla. FYI, I'm terribly lactose intolerant so if I forget me tablets, LOOK UP LOL.
