I’m sorry, Kringas, I didn’t mean to make you think about one of your greatest regrets. But, at least, you didn’t end up with L wondering what could have been with J.

Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; begin it well and serenely and with too high a spirit to be enbered with your old nonsense. ~ Emerson

No need to be sorry. Opportunity and regret often go hand in hand, and I have few regrets about anything. I hadn't thought about the whole ordeal in a while. Celebrity Day really makes you think!

And I realize that I have to begin considering whom I want to succeed me.

Whom ever you choose will have very large shoes too fill.

"All I ask of you is one thing: please don't be cynical. I hate cynicism -- it's my least favorite quality and it doesn't lead anywhere. Nobody in life gets exactly what they thought they were going to get. But if you work really hard and you're kind, amazing things will happen." Conan O'Brien

Do I have to choose someone who regularly posts on here?

That's a rough story, Kringas. Thanks for sharing it.

Thanks, Rath. It was quite a long time ago, and I'm completely over the whole thing. The question just made me think of it, and I thought it was as good an answer as any.

It's a lot of pressure. I not only have to name someone, but I have to make sure I'm awake to pass the baton.

Write down the name for yourself, and set an alarm. So even if you wake up groggy, you won't have to remember anything (except to post, of course!)

I was actually thinking of emailing Craig before I go to bed. Or just naming my successor a few hours early, since I probably won't hit the sack till four or so.

Yep. I wrote my post in Word last night so it would be ready to cut and paste this morning.

That's not a bad idea. Doesn't help me decide, though.

Can I name deleted members?

This just popped in my head...

You talk about the people
that you never get to love
The poem you intended to begin
The saddest words that anyone
has ever said are
"Lord, what might have been?"
But no one said you get to win...

... still you're never gonna miss what you don't know
and you don't know who you'll meet at half past three
It may be a total stranger
Or someone who looks exactly much like... me"

I was thinking the same thing that mom was - big shoes to fill following you and iflit.

DD, that was lovely.

Glad you had a great COTD, Kringas!

By deleted, do you mean "banned for life"? That could prove to be interesting.

All right. I must away for a spell. I hadn't planned on leaving the house, but a friend called me and tempted me with the four words every gay waiter living on a budget longs to hear: "Free food and drink."

Feel free to continue saying nice things about me.

I imagined an epic struggle between the mods that resulted in the thread being "unpinned".
There was much wailing and gnashing of teeth.

I stand corrected, you are as vapid as they say.

I just imagined one of them sneaking behind the other's back. But I think the wailing and gnashing of teeth is more amusing.
