"The one thing he did blow off as a survivor was religion."
That intrigues me, as similar experiences seem to have deepened other's faith. Does that mean you were raised without it?
I know this is very personal, so have no qualms about telling me so. It just really interests me.

Posted: 1/20/06 at 5:00pmdg, either you came out more religous or blew it off, it doesn't mean you gave up your culture, I received your basic religious education and a bar mitzvah. My Dad's brother survived and was more religous during his lifetime. When your mother and sister are murdered as are many of the people he grew up with, he was of the "So like where was God? school.

Wow - thanks for sharing. And I had a great discussion once with our dear Shira about how being Jewish encompasses so much more than religious faith, so I get what you're saying.
Does your focus on physical health get you outside doing things like hiking or biking?

And as I head out the door, I have to thank you guys , On a day when the market tanked and every phone call I made was fruitless, you made it an enjoyable day , got my post count up and contributed to my eventual carpal tunnel syndrome. For that I'm obliged.
Until I log in at home............BYE:)

There's this white chocolate cherry cookie that they have at my coffee hangout
Its really freaking good.
About hiking, I met a woman years ago at the Roundabout and we used to go hiking alot in Jersey and I got a great backpack and really nice hiking shoes. One day we were out and she didn't speak to me and then told me that "I'v e met someone but I see you at the hiking club." Right.... But at least four times, people stopped and complimented me on the shoes. Once some young black kid, tapped me on the shoulder and said "Nice kicks." I said "Yeah, my girlfriend dumped me but I did get a dope pair of kicks."
Shes one of those who put those letters inside their Christmas Cards detailing all the minute details of their lives that you have no interest in at all . She sent them to me for five years afterwards being so strange as to mention her hysterectomy.

Wexy, I leave you with these 3 questions, in no particular order.
What has given you the most (non-sexual and non-criminal) pleasure in the last year?
If you could be anyone you wanted to be for one day, who would you be, and what would you do?
What do you do when you need cheering up?

Boy I didn't what work being a celebrity was. Im gonna be more empathetic to the real celebs :)
Taking my niece Melanie to see "The Killers" at Jones Beach.
Her first real rock concert. She had a great time and she'll always remember that.
Maybe one of the Yankees and hit a game winning homer and get a curtain call. Or be actor that has a hot love scence with the babe of the moment.
When I'm down, I'll put on my favorite songs and dance around the place which usually works for a bit.

Posted: 1/20/06 at 11:47pmCraig - I seriously thank you for the idea, and I love what it has organically evolved into. There is some real interest being shown by both observers and participants, and it's a very welcome respite from . . . well, from other things that we could be spending time on.

Last night at the local hangout all these people were coming over to me and kissing me, do you think they knew that I was the COTD?

Seriously Craig, this idea has been genius (and I'm not just saying this as I was the second one chosen
). On a boring and pedantic note though, as there is a year long embargo on being renominated, are you keeping a list of all the CotDs?
