Mid Term Elections 2018

Encouraged, just got back from the local polling station and I live in a blue district. Longer lines than 2016, and (rubs eyes) some young people.

On the one hand, the anodyne Larry Hogan is probably about as inoffensive to me as an establishment-party politician is likely to be in terms of his words and actions. On the other hand, he remains a Republican at a time when that party has definitively established itself as the home of pure human garbage. While there are decent human beings who are former Republicans, a decent Republican is an actual logical impossibility at this point.

I've had a bad feeling for two years. This moment I choose to be hopeful.

Long night everyone, stay hydrated and let your love light shine!

Dems will take the house. Considering their uphill battle they’ve done well tonight

Welp, Beto lost. Being a Democrat from Texas I was mentally prepared for this because, lets be honest, I'm a Democrat from Texas. I've been voting since November 1998 and besides Obama and a few city officials nobody I've voted for has ever won.

Sorry for the pitty party its super late here in the UK and I don't think sleep is going to happen tonight.

I'm slightly disappointed by the outcome of the county executive race here in Montgomery County MD. My worry is that the projected winner will go full bore socialist on us. The Dems have the run of the place at the county level which isn't always a good thing. They love their taxes here and have a tendency to promise free stuff in exchange for votes. Seems their hearts are in the right place though.

While I’m disappointed in my state of Florida, when you look at the big picture, this was a very good night for Democrats. There are a lot of positives to take away from this, including the fact that a Democrat can come within three points of winning in Texas.

Scott Deep Dish Walker ("sorry Cal, I meant deep sh*t) LOST Wisconsin governorship. I cannot tell you how happy I am. The fluctuations on their vote count were enough to give me a nightmare.

Glad that POS is gone Valentina. I had higher expectations for last night, but if the house majority leads to subpoenas that will be good. Also, let's hope the shackles are off and Mueller Time kicks in.

With Session handed his walking papers earlier today I wonder how Mueller's going to play it. Is there a chance that both Rosenstein and Mueller could be sent packing ala Comey?

Can't stop what Mueller already knows from becoming public, maybe he should be wrapping up soon, the next few days or weeks should be fascinating.

Glass half full folks! ( esp when u have been dying of thirst) It's an excellent start.

NOW you have 1 year to find a young optimistic candidate w a real slate of real ideas for a platform.

(yes I know the election is two years away but y'all spend the run up year in full campaign anyways)

Any specific candidates? ( NO not Bernie!)

I keep hearing Beto's name but wonder if this lose would put paid to that.

How come Massachusetts re-elected their republican Governor AND a Democrat Senator? I’m interested in that kind of like bipartisan voting for two state wide elections.

Elizabeth Warren with either Beto O'Rourke from TX or Tim Ryan from OH as running mate. I would have suggested that she eventually pick up Tallahassee mayor Andrew Gillum as her running mate were it not for the ethics probe that's dogging his office. Doesn't matter that O'Rourke lost his bid for the US Senate and that Gillum lost out to DeSantis for the FL governorship.

It'all about the calculus to get 270 electoral votes in 2020. Both O'Rourke and Gillum are immensely popular in their respective states even more so than Representative Tim Ryan whom the Dems in the House should have replaced Nancy Pelosi with two years ago to elevate his profile ahead of 2020. Nobody wants to be veep but we need some one who can deliver at least one of the swing states to Warren and who can broaden her appeal beyond the ultra liberal coastal cities. O'Rourke and Gillum's losses were blessings in disguise!!!

PS: I don't dislike Pelosi but she has peaked politically along with Jim Clyburn and few other elders who will be vying for committee leadership posts AGAIN.

We do the same next door in RI (not this year, but often) We are both very Democratic states. But many people feel that having a Republican Governor is a check and balance on the fact that just about every other office is held by a Dem. Our current Governor is a Democrat in name only. She acts like a Republican. So folks keep her there.

I think that’s what we tried to do with Rauner, in Illinois, but the Mike Madigan machine was just too powerful for him and he couldn’t get anything done.

Lived in Florida for 14 years and am disappointed in the recent outcome. I moved to South Carolina 7 years ago and still have some regret moving here however I wanted to report that Representative joe Cunningham defeated the Republican katie Arrington by 1.3% in South Carolina. First time since 1981 the 1st district in South Carolina which includes most of charleston where I live. This is exciting and I’m happy about it! He ran as a moderate and went up against Katie Arrington (Think “Lindsey Graham” with a vagina, crude, but true) who he told voters would continue the “tribalism” rampant in Congress. Hoping he can make some changes in this deep red state.

Mid Term Elections 2018

Well, my home state of Florida (which despite the crazies I very much love), has gone and done it again. In case you all haven’t been watching the news, as provisional ballots were counted, both races tightened significantly. The governor’s race is within half a point now, which triggers an automatic machine recount. They’re separated by about 38,000 votes right now.

The race for Senate is even closer, and is at about a .2% difference. Since it’s less than .25%, a mandatory HAND recount has been instituted starting tomorrow. That won’t be wrapped up until around the 18th.

To add to the intrigue...there are still apparently 70,000 uncounted ballots in Broward County that were sitting on a mail truck.

Additionally, there was a an undervote in Broward of about 30,000 votes...30,000 people voted for Governor but not Senator, even though Senator appears first on the ballot. That’s...fishy. They believe that’s likely a computer error.

The deadline to mail in provisional ballots was 5 pm today. I spent the day tracking down ballots with some other volunteers and getting them to the right locations. Groups statewide were all coordinating this effort.

You’d think after the 2000 debacle we’d have better systems in place for this. Here we go again!!
